I'd actually put the "and" instead of "a" down as a typo. What I was questioning was the "show some minerals" part. Maybe I should have been more clear.

Is it supposed to be a phrase, as if so it isn't one I've ever heard before. Maybe it's a region specific one (if one at all).

Seeing as you asked so nicely this time

It's a London phrase which is where I'm from, which in essence means be a man and stand up for yourself ie show your minerals (man up)

Even stranger that I haven't heard it then, as I'm an Essex boy. Maybe I have but it just didn't stick.
