View Full Version : How to deal with trolls/spammers?

Thought of putting up a list of points that can help dealing with trolls/spammers.


1). Don't feed the trolls. Trolls post/spam threads in order to get your attention. Ignore them and you'll defeat them without much of an effort. The moment you reply to them, they get more opportunity to get more people involved. So - Don't - Feed - Them!


2). Consider them helpful. Trolls are actually helpful in making the forum mods realize that it is their duty to regularly monitor the forums. One way or the other, they help bringing the mods here. so please do not hate them. that doesn't mean you've got to love them. just ignore them.


3). Report them and build repo. Right there you have an opportunity to earn some respect from the forum mods. Report the trolls by clicking that little triangle with exclamation mark below the troll's post and inform mods. (i do this only with spammers though).


Hope these tips help you make this place a little better. oh well, only if you care :o

One way to deal with them would be to just unban them, let them post openly under their real names, and stop banning for good, wholesome fun.

I agree. There were some good people who were banned for no good reason. Once this happened this forum erupted in massive trolling. To the point where we get a new mod every month because the others jump off a bridge due to stress.

New mods. I like you. Much more reasonable. If you are interested in putting this to rest for good I'm sure there are some senior forum members who can broker a truce. The key would be unbanning the games and forum accounts that were terminated without cause or contact.
