Can someone please tell me what the shark tank is ?

I read on someone's board that any level an attack you and you can attack any level, that doesn't sound right? Anyway, any information is appreciated. Good luck to you in the battles !

Getting up to level 175 (I think). Its where you become visible to everyone from your level to 250. I.E. where the sharks are.

I'm level 176 and I can not see level 250. So it must be at a higher level.

I'm worried that its right around the corner for me and I'm not sure where my stats should be in order to survive. I'm at 190k/175k.

Maybe it begins at lvl 180 ? Any advice on stat minimum ? Thanks again.

When the max lvl was 200, I am pretty sure it was 175. Now that it has changed, I guess they may have changed that too? IDK, I'm only level 113. As far as stat mins and maxs, I'm still nowhere near there so I can't say. I have 68k att and 87k def at my level and I am comfortable enough to no bank. But once you get to the shark tank, that is a different story.

EDIT: 1000k+ att per lvl is pretty strong. I don't think you will be in that much trouble.

In some circumstances 250 can see down to 176, but they can't attack them. The shark tank starts around 197-8.

In real terms it means you have to massively reassess what your defense stats mean. Even at 190 you can probably get away with 3-400k and more or less never lose. Once you're in the tank, you will get robbed, you will lose fights. There is, I believe, only one kind-of exception to this rule - someone who can only get robbed by one other person.

What do you mean survive? If you want to be able to attack/rob. You are fine. If you want to be able to not lose attacks/robs, you need stats of about 1.5m / 1.5m.

I have noticed lately that sometimes I see levels as much as 10 levels above or below but not consistently.

250 can reliably see down to 205.
If you weren't near-untouchable before the tank, the difference won't be noticeable. It just means the people robbing and attacking you may have higher stats than before.


What do you mean survive? If you want to be able to attack/rob. You are fine. If you want to be able to not lose attacks/robs, you need stats of about 1.5m / 1.5m.

It's impossible to have balanced stats at that level. A typical 1.5m attack player has around 1.1mil defence. IIRC there are only about 3-4 people with 1.5m+ defence (if that), whereas there are 21 people with 1mil attack (people who can fairly reliably rob people with 1.5m defense).

And again, all but one of those people with 1.5m+ defense get attacked and robbed.

Once upon a time (when there are was lvl 200 Cap) shark pool borders was pretty clear. I was lvl 200, 500+ mafia and saw rivals from lvl 178 to lvl 200 with mafia from ~300 to several thousands. Probably "reverse" vision was better: players with lvl 175-177 could see lvl 200. The shark pool temporarily extended during heavy PVP-events or rare glitches.
Today I'm lvl 234 with 547 mafia and I can see only lvl 205-250 with mafia from 417 to 762 (statistics from about ~30 refreshes of rival list).
Because I'm too lazy to check more thoroughly there are 2 working hypothesis:
1. Current shark pool is from lvl 200 to 250 (borders are fluctuating)
2. There are forum discussions that you can hide from other's rival lists due to rising your mafia to 800 and higher (unconfirmed).
3. With stats 190/175 you will be better than ~50% of the shark pool. So you will always find someone to eat, and you will be attacked/robbed often. You probably know that situation is unstable: stats inflation from new respect items and LTQ/LTB is enormous.

Really? Did you think I was trying to give him an exact defense number that he needed to not lose robberies?

His stats under 200k....maybe he plans on spending $5k over the next few levels to add over 1,000,000 to his stats.

I was trying to make the point that you can go along the first ~200 levels and think you are very strong, but once you enter the "shark tank", there is almost no such thing as being rob or attack proof, except for the very, very few of you.

I'm pretty sure that the shark tank is a rolling function of a certain percentage of top players versus the overall number of players. There is a safety zone that you reach where you can see high levels but they can not see you. This is like the seal standing on the edge of the rock ledge. You can then decide to camp, buy crates, or bank your money and collect on schedule. Lots of people sell all their 1h, 3h, 6h, 8h, and 18h collection buildings at that point (12h too, depending on work schedule--though some still manage to collect 8 hours and some insomniacs continue collecting 6h buildings with a timer).

Based on a previous post, it seems that there is some degree of mafia bracketing within the shark tank now, too. You used to see lots of "rats" (Indian-coined phrase) who kept their mafia at 499 to avoid being targets for Thug Life. I'm not really sure I understand this strategy per se... as a high-IPH player it's the persistent robberies that seem the most troubling.

If you wake up at the same time every day, you can do pretty well. If you can't collect on schedule, there is not a limit to how much you can get robbed, so you can fall down to 40% of previous collections if not careful. Some would say, why not continue to collect the 40%--I like my nightclubs. It's because it will make predator robbers more likely to remember your name and seek it out in the rivals list.

I'm only level 115, but I first read about the shark tank in the upper 60s. I was so scared of it at the time, that I started camping. I wish that I would have continued camping until the boss events got sweet, but instead I figured out that the posts I read about the shark tank were really old and resumed leveling as long as I went slow enough to have mostly green in my news feed.

I just figured out that it takes 2 days to build one missile turret (that's 100 days for a full set!!!) so I'm probably going to be camping again for a while, depending on if I can resist the LTQ and if my shadow (Mint) keeps robbing me after I get the next set of syndicate prizes.
