These two events are connected too and you have to complete them both all ten gems or whatever they are and the heroic mode to get the final unit.

According to the FAQ on Gree's site and also posted here as a sticky they state you must be level 10 to play the events but as evidenced many times that is not always true. No crashes here just slow going.

I just had a person have the same problems. To fix it, he tried connecting with Wifi instead of his Cellphone service. He said he let it load up a bit and then clicked the button and it worked fine after that!

one way to circumvent the crash is to go the quest via the map. check where the quest is and instead of hitting the button - go to maps and that will take you there! good luck

OK so I tried one last time before I went to bed and the quest worked! I just restarted the game and the box icon had appeared and I got a better luck next time message. Since then have managed to get plenty of boxes open, 5 gems and a load of gold and honour. Seems I open more than I get denied, all with gold.

Hope he crashing has been resolved for everyone now :)

I got to 9/10 almost two days ago, after about 5/6 opened with nothing I started counting. I am either 34 or 35 boxes without a gem. I spend gold, no diamonds, each time. Is there some strategy? I've gotten plenty hero points.

Edit. I have a theory no matter how quickly you check it the percentages take that in. While the work week was occurring and I didn't try for 5-7 hours between boxes I had a great success rate. When the weekend hit and I started trying every hour I have not had a gem yet. Hmm...

Got my 10th gem right now by using the gold option also finished the LTQ quest so got all of them, the apprentice of azgor is pretty useful unit 20% more on raid buildings which I really need, so I tackled down the spider box and the LTQ in just for 4 days, I think is just luck on the box event.

I try approx.17x a day,( every day since the event started.) with 3 days & 21 hours left, this means still 62x chance..

The last 1,5 day, I shall think about using gems to open the box & resetting the timer, but still... it still should be a partially free game and not a real money taking gambling game...

For the time being, I stay positive ;)

I agree the same thing happened in a quest passed, always the same problem the first to find them at once, the last one can never find it, until you start to use the gems then the chances go up, not a case.

I'm not even massively bothered by the 20% raid bonus, what pee's me off is the tying LTQ in with the Box event, although a nice idea in principle, all it really means is that gems are wasted in finishing the LTQ, because you still can't get the main prize (which you would usually get at ~7K just for finishing the LTQ) without spendnig unknown quantities of gems, as it can range from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand on a box event depending on the mood GREE have at any given time when they are somewhat dubiously flicking %'s up and down in the back-end.

I maintain 2 profiles; my lower ranked one got the 10th gem on 3rd day. mostly gold hits with a few free mixed in. roughly 30 tries total
in my main profile took 4 days - all gold hits except was stuck so long on 9 that used one gem hit & wasted it on small honour payout. eventually got the 10th with a gold hit. not sure how many tries to get to 9 but it took 22 tries to get from 9 to 10

They are supposed to be random, but everyone knows the drill. The first few are easy and it progressively harder to find the prizes. I've been at 7 on two games for two days now. I have 45 spider boxes in one game, 23 in the other. Which probably means 45 I have crap prizes in one game and...well you know how it is.

Gree really needs to rethink these box events. Most of the boxes I am attempting to open are opening, but they are giving me a little bit of cash or a few experience points. Nothing I would consider spending gems for. And since the odds of my getting an Ebon gem are less than 1 in 20 at this stage of the quest, I am not going to use gems to open boxes that 95% of the time they give me crap. Maybe if they gave some decent units out as boobie prizes I'd consider it.

I receive honor & gold prices in between, but honestly I don't care about that, ok I received approx.. 20K honor, but again.. 1 guild war and my honor unit is dead again ;)

Just received again 15K gold...but no Gem in sight.. now we're waiting and trying so long, I think most of us already have more peace with the fact the chance for the gem is almost not there... GREE(D) with their odds are very dissapointing... it's almost we're playing a real gambling game.

My opinion is that when GREE(D) combines 2 LTQ, that the required gems should stay on an acceptable level, but again we're tested and GREE(D) want to see how far we will go to win the main price.

Similar with the Guild wars, is someone really thought GREE didn't make enough profit, they should compare the numbers from before the Guild war introduction and the numbers of now, think their profit has doubled again...
Advantage for GREE, (we) KA addicts will pay and play as long as possible to get what we want, hehehehehe

Anyone know minimum level requirement for Dark Awakening by any chance?

It turns out the minimum level was 25 for this LTQ. I believe it is based upon the maps used in the LTQ - you must have all the relevant maps unlocked before the quest will start. So each LTQ will be different, depends on the maps used.

First ever box/LTQ tie-in that I have finished. Either didn't finish the box side, the LTQ on heroic side or some aspect thereof, but this time, got both done!

And all gold option openings, except twice mis-click on gem openings, which netted me 500 honor and 15,000 gold.

And from Thursday through yesterday, I opened near 40 boxes with the gold option before I got gem 9/10, and then today was 2 sorry's, some gold and gem 10/10.

I flatly refuse to use gems to open, or reset, as they're expensive, for what is clearly a luck event. I have completed a lot of the heroic event, but am deliberating finishng it, because, without the big prize, it's a lot of hard (-and expensive) work. I really hate box events, with an absolute loathing. I have never been successful with them and this pne is no different. Been stuck on nine for days. I'm not really sure why two events have to be run together either, but I guess Gree's bank has the answer to that one!

The chance to get the item (in this case the ebon gem) by opening the box should be "official" and shown in the event box, so that the players willing to use gems (and therefore real life money) know the kind of gamble they're investing their gems in. Of course it would be good to know the chance to open the box with rusty knife and gold options as well.
A spreadsheet with columns like this would be welcome:
- Number of items already obtained
- Rusty knife chance to open the box
- Gold chance to open the box
- Chance to get the item when the box opens (supposing it is the same for the three options, knife, gold and gems)

I guess the chance to get the 10th item from an open box is somewhere between 2% and 3%... or maybe it really depends on a secret "luck" stat given to players... If I had to calculate the % based on my experience it would be a flat 0% :)

In "GREE chance" formula, they should also consider when players try to open the box every hour, for committed players who try every hour, their chance rate should go up..

For a gambling game only without consideration and chance rate below 2~3%, I just as well can play "Jackpot slots"

Been at 9 gems for 2 days now, opening every hour when I'm awake. I will not use gems on a box event, tried once and it was a huge waste. They should make the odds of getting the 10th better. I would burn through some gems if I knew I could get the big prize, I'm on 8 in hero mode. But that luck variable that sucks in the box event means my apple bucks aren't coming into this game. Because when it comes to Gree, I don't think luck is a part of the equation, just GREEd.

Last 72 hours, I opened the box spider, at least 50 times, but can not open 9-th gems .

Today I registered on the forum, I play exactly 51 days and I am very disappointed in this game.

I am an active player, the job allows me to join countless times a day, but I'm disappointed because spider box.

Thanks. Do you know of any limit on levels that could cause boxes not to drop? I have been killing monsters for more than a day without getting any and I really don't want level much more since I am still very weak. Does it have to be quest monsters or can I kill any monster on any map?

Its any monsters and for me ive had the prob your talking about when it was just one box event and not two tied together my option for getting boxes was to attack everything i could and it seems pretty random on there drop rate cause ive got them 2 in a row before and ive also had to kill like 20 monsters just for one to drop i would say keep trying but with 16 hours left in this ltq it almost seems pointless if your having that much trouble but theres always next time ive had one box quest where i could not get anything at all its very frustrating sometimes

I have a timer running so I can open them every hour for the last 2 days. No luck. If I could get a tenth gem I'd break out the gems and make a run for that big prize. But if I have to rely on the luck of a MF box event to win those gems are not going to be used. There's a few new tunes I can download instead. GREEd makes it too hard to get the prize in box events and I am never going to use gems on something that is based on pure luck when the odds are against you. Same reason I won't go to casinos, betting on a losing hand is just plain stupid.

Yes - I am going to do that. I, like others, was stuck on 9 gems and for the next 30+ boxes did not get the 10th gem.
So, I bought gems and used a bunch of them to reset the counter and open guaranteed. Well, after getting blown out with stupid Gold wins and no gems, I was taught a lesson.

I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER buy another Gem on this game...and I will warn my Guild to do the same.

How stupid of Gree. If they would have allowed my a 10th Gem after buying and using gems, it would have trained my like a Pavlovian Dog to use and buy gems for such things. Now, I wil do the opposite....and warn others.

I did the same thinking the gemming would open for me. A guild member also gemmed- 480 later received the prize. Definitely not worth $50 to me.

I am still very irritated with Gree. I went for over 5 days without finding a gem. I was opening on average 18-19 boxes a day. That was a LOT of gold invested with about 1 in 6 boxes having anything. And 5 days without a gem is robbery. :( :( never got my 10th gem and am losing interest in a game that sucks that much gold out if you without a reward. :(

Even if we had 10 more days to open boxes we would not find the 10th gem. It's more likely that from the beginning Gree had only 25-50 10th gems to give out and no more. So most of us were doomed from day two, when we had our max 9 gems.

Why were myself and sooooo many others left short changed for 2-4 days with no 10th Ebon Gem? What happened there? Religiously opening a box every hour for days and nothing but Honor, Gold & Sorries.
