The monsters don't load tryed a few things like hitting the hag tree to raise master level.
But that did not work so I am looking for other suggestions.

Delete the game and reinstall it from the App Store. That usually fixes things like this. Before you ask, your game is not stored in any way on your device; it is stored in its entirety on Gree servers: you won't lose anything. Just make sure you collect your raidable buildings before you start.
