Best way to spend Gems to raise Stats

I haven't really seen this talked about. If it has I am sorry, and please direct me & everyone to that thread. :)
What does everyone think the best use of Gems is for raising Stats? The LTQ's are great, and what I have been focusing on. Does any think there is a better use for gems at the moment?

Given the boost you get from LTQs, no.

Best ways to get stats from gems
1) use a Small amount of gems at beginning of LTQ when mobs are on hitters push your way through normal mode then in heroic spend a small amount at the beginning of heroic when mobs are one hitters. Best way to use a light amount of gems in a LTQ. Won't finish Herois but will get bang for the buck.
2) Use gems to buy the limited Three crate/box/chest from the store often give out 1 to 2 rares.


Do not buy single units ever with gems :)
