View Full Version : The Thumper + Diamond sig = don't combine?

So I have a question.. I have the Diamond sig (which gives +1 r-point for every successful attack), and recently got the thumper (+40% respect). I still get 2 r-points as the lowest when I win a fight. My question is, shouldn't that be impossible with these weapons together? With the diamond sig, i was no longer able to win just 1 r-point, making the lowest possible r-points 2 (of course). But with the thumper, shouldn't the lowest be at least 3? Further, keep in mind that I also have the +25% r-points from my syndicate. Am I wrong? Or is gree screwing with me?

40% boost will be from the base value not that plus Diamond Sig. If the raw numbers get rounded to the nearest whole figure then 1 x 140% is still only 1.4 so Diamond Sig modifier is 2.4 rounded down to 2

The same will apply to the syndicate bonus, so 1 + 0.4 + 0.25 is 1.65, plus 1 is 2.65. If the theory above is correct that should be 3, so either you're being screwed or there's a glitch giving zero respect sometimes. Either that or fractions of numbers are never counted, in which case it's still 2

Isn't the syndicate bonus for robbing?
I noticed a different robbing when we got it but not in attacks

i've been wondering the same, as i have Wild Ride which gives +1 RP from attacks. i also get +25% rp from syndicate. my question is "which modifier is applied first? the +1, the +25%, or the +40%"

cause unless they drop fractions after every calculation the minimum possible would be:
+1 first
1+1=2 + 25%= 2+.5= 2.5 + 40% = 2.5+1=3.5 equals 4

+% bonuses first
1 +25%= 1.25 +40%= 1.25+.5=1.75+1= 2.75 equals 3

Thank you for the answers. It would be nice to get this sorted out by someone from Gree. It feels like the minimum should be 3.

@daystar - all and none. I think all modifiers are applied to the basic value without influence from any other modifiers, so...

(1+40%=1.4) + (1+25%=1.25) + (1+1=2) = 4.65 at best (then maybe drop the fraction gives 4)

Dropping the fractions from each calculation would also be 1 + 1 + 2 = 4

@Amber - yes, I'd love to see someone from Gree come on to explain it in layman's terms

All modifiers apply to base value.

The only exception to that rule is upgrade time/cost reduction modifiers.

I don't have the diamond sig but I have the Thumper. I still get the occasional 1 RP, which mathematically is possible. The main thing I notice is my maximum is the same. The most I get is 20 RP/fight. I believe that is what is was prior to the thumper. Am I remembering this incorrectly? Shouldn't I be getting up to 28 RP?

I've been getting more "ones" than before with the Thumper. Honestly, don't notice anything different

I have the midas and thumper both give 40% more and with the syn 25% my RP is min 2 max 21 at level 170

Good point. My syn has 25% RP too. My level is 214. Can anyone else at about the same level confirm what they are getting for RP. I hate to submit a ticket if it is working, pretty sure it's not.

I submitted a ticket. I have +25% too. Honestly, no difference to me, getting 1 quite a bit and never had a 15+

Why is everybody rounding up? In all my time I've never seen a game where if you end up getting 3.5 it rounds up to 4. Honestly I feel like if it's going to be a modifier it would simply truncate the decimal rather than round it. From a business standpoint it's more logical (and we all know how much business nonsense goes on here) to simply drop off the decimal and return that number as an integer value.

I am not worried about rounding up. I'm concerned about getting 20 instead of 28.
