If your faction is as loyal as you say, they will stick with you regardless of what he does. Also, make sure your guys know that going with him would mean starting over and slowly rebuilding the faction and they'd lose any chance of winning any prizes.

I would boot him for ruining the faction and if you have old buddies moving out with him then start recruiting new ones but never hand powers to the new guy just cause he makes millions of points.
