Yes, but you'll have to be wise about the hits. They'll have to be 13 hits when you reach around number 37. I was in te same boat last boss

Just hit 40! Was a lot quicker than I thought. 0 gold spent as my account was ready to go. Final tally was 9 rares, 12 uncommons, and 21 commons. After starting with absolutely horrible luck (my full list can be tracked on page 1 of this thread), the final result couldn't make me happier. After starting how I did, I would have been thrilled with 3-5 rares and 5+ uncommons, let alone what I actually pulled. Good luck to everyone else still participating in this event.

Pretty, pretty good. Ended up with 18C 15U 7R, for a total of 6766A 5128D points. Now level 52 though, so the next few events are going to be much more difficult...sort of at the boundary where with 13 hits I might be able to get the last boss, not sure.

I suspected from prior bosses that the uncommons and rares picked up as the boss level increased. From those who had logged (as opposed to summed up) their bosses before me, I created an index. 15% Rare, 20% Uncommon, and 65% Common. No surprises there. I took the average boss level for each prize and divided it by the average boss level overall, so that if you weight-average these numbers, you should get one.

GDP Grenade: 19 @ 1.4333
Margin Call: 9 @ 1.4805
ROI Roadster: 10 @ 1.5573

Grand Slam: 13 @1.4414
Junk Bomb: 19@ 1.2317
Preferred Stock: 19@ 1.3763

Country Club: 50@ 0.7745
The Closer: 63@ 0.7522
S&P Spats: 53@ 0.8391

Clearly the commons are more common at the lower boss levels, but not enough data is aggregated to make a clear comparison between uncommon and rare. (Grand Slam has higher index than GDP Grenade, for instance) The trend certainly fits. Theory validated, neither proven nor disproven.

This is part of the reason why I recently urged a syndicate member to spend left over gold on this boss event rather than the last limited edition vehicle (trike). However, I have to admit that I am tempted by the Toxic Blast. It's good stat/gold for this time in the game, but it'd be easier to make a decision if I knew when/if the stat-inflation was going to end!

Well I leveled out to 54 so it'll be much harder next time, if that helps you any. And there's no fun with syndicate wars and items either. Swings and roundabouts. Also, have pigskins and bought many crates some time back, which is completely separate from camping versus not.

Dipstik just doesn't like it if other people get nice things. Dipstik must share, I want to say, but he is stubborn. He wants all the nice things for himself. If Dipstik had his way he'd get to hoard all the nice things. Then we'd all look at him in envy, for in that world all the nice things are belong to him. "Look (we'd lament) this is why we can't have nice things."

Anyway, there's a serious point. For me there's a question whether continuing past level 40 is worth it, and I think now probably it is, especially when the event pushes you into a new boss tier for the next round.

People SHOULD be rewarded for being higher level, but the "race to 250" thing is just a reward for spending gold. Honestly, the experience needed to go from 200 to 250 isn't that much less than what was needed to go from 1 to 200.

I agree with this by the way. In most games camping or farming is a viable strategy, but it's a bit extreme in this one, since AFAIK there's no benefit to leveling except new buildings and crappy cash items. Buildings would be something especially combined with stuff you can buy for money - though apparently now there are "good" high level cash items. But you can get by far the best building in the game on level *one*. And cash or even respect items are nothing special. As soon as I realized the above I bought crates to make getting the (tier-2) L40 boss possible, and have been collecting boss items since then.

You have explained why Gree won't change anything frankly. Every dealer knows that you attract new customers with freebies, then once they're hooked you make money. Sorry, that's how it is. Leveling is a handicap, but there's no reason for the company to care when the high level addicts spend like crazy.

*My* strategy is to keep playing now while I'm having fun, and stop when I can no longer get anything without paying through the nose. *Gree's* strategy involves counting on a respectable fraction of people like me getting addicted, so by then it'll be too late to quit, and I'll go around calling myself Tyler Durden. I'm betting against Gree that their product is not that addictive, so I can get the free samples. I'm not sure I'm winning - I did buy those crates.

I don't mean "without spending real money" when I say "for free." I mean "without exerting any effort towards playing the game." If you want to be successful in boss events, you should be required to play the game, level up, and make your character stronger. As it is now, if you want to be successful in boss events, you should do exactly the opposite. You should do nothing. You should sit on your butt, open your free scratcher every day, collect your buildings, and do your absolute best to NEVER gain any experience points.

I just registered to the forum and this is my first post. Although, I've been playing Crime City for well over a year now. I see that a lot of you guys get pretty far into the Boss events. I don't know why but I don't think I will get past 18 or 19. Maaaayybe I'll reach 20.

What strategies are you using to get enough hits within the 2-hour span of an attack?

My current strategy: Hit 3x then retreat. Wait 2 minutes, go back and hit 2x (5 hits).... Come back in 27 minutes and hit 2x. Rinse and repeat until defeated. That can get me a total of 13-14 hits.

To beat Greenback in level 17 I needed to use about 13 hits I believe. But, I'm going to bet that I will need at least 16 hits or so to defeat him in level 18 or 19. So how is it possible to get further than this level?? I'm stumped.

Here are my stats:

Total Mafia Defense: 58832

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I didn't spend any gold. I do about 125,000 damage to the boss so I can 8 hit the 40th one. I think in tier 4 you need 120k attack to beat 40 bosses for free. Anything is possible with enough gold.

I've been objecting for almost a year now to the fact that players are actually PENALIZED in this game for gaining experience points. It's poor game design. Boss "tiers" are only the most obvious aspect of this problem. Players should be rewarded for actually playing and fighting.

And no... people should not "get nice things" for free. How would you feel if every new player started getting 1000/1000 items just for logging on and that item wasn't available to you? It's pretty much the same as the low level boss tiers.

I don't disagree that it's poor game design, but unfortunately staying low level and doing boss events is pretty much the only way to stay competitive right now without spending vaults. I understand why it's designed that way, but I do think Gree ultimately limits the game by trying to push people into spending money so hard. Imo, they would be a lot more successful as a company if they took more of a tack like Riot has with League of Legends, in that the game is the same for those who choose to spend money and those who don't, where spending money gives you cosmetic benefits or speeds things up. A lot more people spend a little bit of money on LoL, and Riot consequently makes a lot more than Gree. Gree's fiscal strategy is incredibly narrow and short-sighted by comparison.

Out of curiosity, I created a brand new account yesterday on my wife's device, opened one scratcher and bought a couple guns in order to do some random job on the first map to get to level 5. Promptly blasted through 15 bosses, and would probably have gotten to 20 if I had another day or two. Yeah, that's fair.

Yeah it seems everyone (lvl 1 - lvl 250) can do the first 19 or so using the standard 26 minute strategy and time.

I guess the only way to change this would be to give the boss a fixed amount of health at each level that scales or to scale the drops from the boss based on your current level.

Can't see it happening though as doing this would probably make it so people are less likely to invest in gold at lower levels.

It is odd to see all the new members that joined the forum within the past month beating the boss 40+ times, but all of us (non-campers) that have been on here for a long time are struggling with 20+.. Does seem quite backwards :p

Probably because he liked the old format better- despite the new format being far superior (so long as you're in a competent syndicate).

Although, the stat inflation aspect is a little excessive. I could have joined some 3 weeks ago, spent the amount of $$$ I have over the past two years & had better stats than I do now.

Don't get me wrong, the inflation helps keep the game spicy- It's just at too high of a rate atm, imo.
