I don't think so, as far as I know you have to have a credit card just to set up your apple ID, which is what allows you to buy gold.

It now gives you the option when signing up to not use a credit card. im guessing because all the kids that were buying games without parental consent. Now just buy a gift card go to your account hit redeem and its as good as a credit card.
