Difference between Loot and Equipment

I see many items in my loot that look like they should belong under explosives, melee, guns, or other category in my equipment.

Why are these items categorized as loot and not listed under the appropriate equipment category?

Loot is just all the categories under one tab.

Your items from weapons/armour/etc. are all repeated into there.

To clarify, loot items are items that are received from performing any kind of job or other special event. So items such as Scratcher Rewards, Collect 10 Prizes, Syndicate Event Prizes, etc. will be found under this tab. You will also find the same items listed under their regular tab.

For example, the one Tiger Blade I've gotten from daily scratchers would appear under my Loot tab, since it's a bonus item.

I would also find it under my Melee tab, since it's classified as a Melee item.

You don't have multiples of the item though. Whatever you see listed in either tab is the amount that you have. You can't add the two tabs together
