View Full Version : Should a warning be displayed?

Relatively speaking this type of game is new to the scene and spending sporadic amounts of cash on a game is a new concept. Should there be a warning about possible addiction for these games? Obviously by law Gree have no obligation to do this but morally?

There are clearly some people on here that are lucky enough to have the disposable income but what about the others that get sucked into the moment and say to themselves "just one more vault" those vaults add up over time and before you know it you've spent hundreds on a game and have a fairly unhealthy addiction.

Thoughts?

Funny idea.

But I don't think spending money on this game is the addiction. The game it selves is the addiction.

You're still the one who decides to pull out his credit card to buy the gold, it is not necessary to play the game.

Obviously, but they are throwing the benefits of gold down your throat. Coming up with new ways to tempt you in. I myself have found myself caught up in the moment of a faction battle when giving someone a good spanking and bought more and more gold. Firstly it's a one off then its 'well I did it last time' until its so natural you're clicking the 'buy gold button' without a second thought.

Your example is like saying if you go to a casino you don't have to spend money. I wonder how many addicts started that way.

I understand this is extreme but I wonder how long it'll be until we see this being discussed by the wider public?

There is just one small difference between modern war and a casino. You can not play in a casino without money. you can play modern war without money.

I'm not saying it's not tempting to spend gold. I also bought some gold but don't have the feeling I have to keep buying. Mostly because most units are awfully expensive to buy.

Oh yes, you buy gold and lots of it if you want to play with the top groups. Down in the 1000 level kiddie pool we still have fun peer pressure gets to some people. I'll admit i could become an addict but i changed my store password to something I cant remember so now I cant get at that buy button.

The other difference is when you spend money in a casino you have a chance to win it back and more. In MW its different because you only recieve pixels. What i do is if i have spare money i go to best buy or something as buy a card. I do not use my credit card because i am the kind of guy who will spend without a second thought

If you chose to spend, it's like almost any other form of entertainment, there's a cost associated. As with many hobbies, if you want to be at the top, the cost is greater. Some chose to dabble. Some chose take what gree gives them for free. It's all good, and all up to you.

Kid in the UK ran up a big bill playing some zombie game, reckon it was his father buying vaults and blaming the kid when his wife saw the credit card bill, lol.
