How much money is a lot of money?
I am level 9 with these stats:

IPH: 1639
Gold: 2526 - NOTE I USUALLY HAVE 10K
# Of Weapons: 44
# Of Armour: 29
ATK: 789
DEF: 844

Would you say I am doing good? I am a Free2Play member.

Also how is atk and def calculated. If you could, provide some pseudo code.

Those stats for your level are fine. Being your only at level 9, it's hard to say how well your character will evolve. It would be easier to tell if you need improvement when you are around level 50. Don't rush though, take your time, upgrade buildings, raid as many good buildings as you can find. The first big step is to build a breeding den, upgrade it to level 10...and then start cranking out a massive dragon army. Again, be patient and don't out level your stats. I see people at my level that ate still in the 40k range in stats...they should be around 100k average. These people ran through the game...out leveled their stats. They are pretty much doomed.

With a bit of planning and some patience it's possible as a free player to average 1K per level. Choose your army strategy (attack & defence units), get the best weapons you can afford and build your economy.
Dont level too fast and choose your Events wisely (Bosses for beginners, LTQs for the more experienced)

Treat it as a marathon not a sprint.

Good luck.

Indeed, 1k per lvl is a good guide line. Once above lvl50 it's a bit more as 1k per lvl.

My rule was: don't level up until my stats are 90-95th percentile at my current level. Still on track well past lvl 100. Enjoy the ride and a year from now you'll still love it. Rush it and you'll stall and die.

In addition to the strategies proposed by Patrician and me&You, my rule of thumb was stats at 1.2 x level. (Or D at least)
I did the 'take a good look around every few levels' thing to see how I was tracking and the results of the '95% rule' or 'level x 1.2' I found pretty much the same.

The 1.2xL just saves the looking around.... ;-)

Beyond L50, or when ever you get dragons, that multiplier should go up rapidly for a while until you're 'fully stocked' with dragons. The proportion of your stats will also tip towards Attack because of the dragon stats over-riding most other units.

I'm still in that phase, so I can't comment on say, above L100, etc.

above lvl 100 its really funny to look around at peoples stats. I meet people with near max allies and half my damage and defence, while i only have 185 allies, and i run into people like sleazius on the forum, 100k+ attack/def with just a small amount of allies. Almost makes me sad when i hit someone and he turns out to have an armor as his best defensive unit, or if he has several LTQ prices and still gets his ass kicked by me.

Number of units you take to battle (function of the number of allies you have) and their raw Att/Def scores.
Plus Army weapons and armour. Plus any boosts from buildings etc.

I am mainly purchasing money buildings raising them to level 3 then upgrading a level to get the next money buildings. I know camping is frowned upon but it is my game account and ill play it how I want. I thank you guys for the tips and helpful responses

Who says camping is frown upon? The way this game is designed, it's as if they wanted you to camp. It's going to take 326 hrs just to upgrade one silo building to lvl 10, that's 2 full weeks!

But like you stated, it's your game, so you can play however way you wants.

I would recommend the stickies at the top, particularly the ones labelled for new players. All of those questions and more are answered there.

Campers are hated because if everyone camped, the game would be uninteresting.

But in actuality, non-campers are just jealous that they have to spend real money to be as powerful as free playing campers. That's why all the hate against campers.

they dont need to, it'll just take a few beatings, but non campers get stronger in the end due to all the LTQ units they got :P

a glory a

But campers will never meet with non-campers so they will remain the most powerful in their level bracket :p

I was a camper for about 5 months... its boring and you get nowhere fast, now i level and i'm strong for my level. partially thanks to starting off with the camping, but mostly due to only levelling through LTQ quests

to me there's just people who enjoy the game and people who wait 6 months-1 year to enjoy it more intensely then.

Otherwise known as delayed gratification. It's usually better. Go figure.

Campers to me are like a kid on Christmas that gets a new toy, but will not take it out of the box in hopes it will increase in value someday. I on the other hand prefer to rip open the box, and play with my shiny new toy! ;) In the end the camper may have a toy with more $ value, but I sure had a heck of a lot more fun! :)

Everyone's idea of fun is different. We campers find it fun to camp because we become dominant in our level bracket. To us, being dominant is fun. From our perspective, we're glad that you non-campers choose to play 'normally' because if all of you followed our playstyle, we would no longer be dominant and the game would not be fun for us.

Either way we are having just as much fun, if not more. Otherwise we wouldn't even bother playing.

There is special test for children success in life called marshmellow test. Eat 1 marshmellow now or wait 10 minutes and get 2 marshmellows. If you eat the 1 marshmellow immediately then you fail and predicted to be failure in life due to poor self control and instant gratification. If however you wait the time for extra marshmellow then your outcome in life is superior to the failure. This is the same with KA. The campers wait and are superior over time to the instant gratification players who must waste their real money on this game - just like real life failure people who waste their money on casino and beers.

suuuuuure, marshmallows predict the future. I'd be bored with the game if i camped long enough for it to actually have any effect. Its just a game i play when bored, i want to enjoy it. And that doesnt mean i wont be succesful in life.

your post did make me laugh though :)

Bearden: 1. I have two kingdoms, my second is free and level 12. Post your ID and I'll ally you. That may help. 2. I'll PM you later with basic info on how those numbers are calculated. I use spreadsheets to track everything and decide what to buy or upgrade based on my size and the units I have. I have to run to work now, but will PM you over my lunch break. AK

What if you don't really like marshmallows? Then each choice is equally valid. These people who live off testing grants should get a real job!

I camped for a long time until recently. Now that I'm going after LTQ units I'm having way more fun. If I hadn't have camped first and built up my stats and buildings though, I would be screwed.

Not really. I never camped, and over the last 3 weeks my attack rose by about 15k and my def by 25k, mostly from ltq units. I would never say I'm the strongest in my level bracket, but recently I've seen I do beat about 90% of the people with equal or less allies, and the ones I don't have either finished the ice/fire ltq or have presence of Malik (H)

I semi camped 8-10 months, the reality is i didnt really play coz I play other games, so I see the point about wanting to have fun now, otherwise what is the point? BUT, If I had not camped I would have never go to where I am (the highest player I found recently was overall 20% less in stats), and I see TONS of people with 2-5 IPH with little or no chance for a BD10or long term future in the game as they will get put off. So it depends if u think of the game as a "fix" or something long term. Long term thinking is also relevant to spenders as why buy 1 unit for 900 gems when u can get the same for maybe 10% of that in an event (except of course people that may have personal fortunes or earning 10s of thousands a month). Finally although spenders may not apreciate campers, end game will be for the spenders (if they play as much as the free players), as they will get the better units we campers cannot get to without gems; Some people seem to say this is unfair but if someone spend real money they SHOULD get better goodies. In any case thanks to spenders for helping the game (truthfully I amnot being sarcastic).

Oh yes I forgot, in any case the dinamic is changing and LTQs are giving great rewards and it is getting very difficult to camp and loose those units... I am lucky as camping fase is mostly finished and could take advantage of increased better units in the last month or two, but that something recent that will change the game play a bit
