How do you declare defense leader?

The reason I ask is I am the faction leader, but don't have the best def stats and have been the one to get the brunt of the attacks. Is it just because I am first on the list?

If you go into your members list and look under their "edit" buttons, you can see an option
to promote them to DL. Unfortunately I only discovered this after the start and now it seems
we cannot promote anyone to DL unitl the end of the Battle for Brazil - it gives a lock message.
This seems to say we are playing without a DL during Brazil. We only had a few hours between app
update, when the option appears (buried in this menu), and the lockout.

Confirmed, you CAN pick a defense leader during the larger event, you just have to be out of a war (one faction to faction battle). Are you currently waiting on a match-up or in a match-up?

If a defense leader has not been declared then why can you be attacked?

How do you know when you are under attack?

By the way next time you change an event date push a message to the app.

When I saw the DL is locked message, we were actually waiting for a war, which I didn't know due to lack of faction discipline. I was able to promote one between wars, so I'm good.
