Mysterious Cultist

I wonder whether somebody came across these Mysterious Cultists as well. I am right now mastering map 21 (The River's Bend) and am midway through level 4 when all of a sudden the Mysterious Cultists begin to spawn whenever I kill one of the "normal" monsters on the map. They were not there for the first 3 levels, are much stronger than the other monsters on the map, and drop "unique" loot.

I wonder what is going on here?

I just saw the same thing but in the Owlbear Hollow. I'm currently trying to finish off Level 5 there and saw them this morning. I came he to see if they were leftovers from the previous LTQ but saw this instead!

Might be a part of some newly meanted quest for the map, or indeed, as BN said - something pertaining to some next LTQ. They also have now something called Mistress Tenebrous, 151energy monster in the Buried city map. Might also be part of the same scheme, although I missed a few previous LTQs and those monsters could have been introduced there...Strange anyway :)

When the Server updates/resets and an event comes on line, you're going to wish you had just killed the enemy. They reset their health, too.

Something is leading me to believe it'll be along the same lines as the "Frost Daggers". It's dropping "Loot" like stated above and I bet it'll be a prize in the realm of the "Frostbane Dragon".

All I can say is 34 energy x 3 hits = 33 XP total and $2,100. I'm in.

It appears on The Rivers Bend there are Mysterious Cultists (took me 4 hits) that drop the Maddux Greaves. Then on Owl Bear, there is a Cultist of Maddox that is much stronger (4 hits got me a ~1/3rd the way).

I'm thinking I'll see about knocking off a few of the Cultist of Maddox and if that will save me some gold with the next event.

I hit him once and only took about 18% of its health (will need 6 to kill him), and I have 210 Hero Strenght!!!!!! the spear with 54 attack and the armor with 66 Defense

So, worst case is you have to kill them again, and you miss out on a day or two's worth of weapon/armor loot drops. And, as I recall, you're firmly against camping so the XP gain is irrelevant to your gameplay style (which is similar to mine: PVE and PVP away!)

I'm taking my chances on abandoning my current PVE questline missions and trying to collect these drops (though spending gems at this point seems risky).

Going to wait till the splash screen, as i dont want to level if i dont have to not that i am a camper just going through levels slowly ,need my BD10.. but if it resets the health its going to be back to square 1 for everyone and more XP gain than actually required (unless at LVL200) .... but if it doesnt reset you will be home for dinner and a good drink.. still on the fence with this ? tick tock !

Umm interesting Jonny but that didn't happen for the Master of Arms in the first LTQE. I had taken her down to the final hit. I left her like that for weeks as I didn't want to lvl up anymore. Then we got the LTQE for the first time. Saw the MoA was the first unit to kill. I went straight to her and smash, hit her once...Congratulations you've completed quest 1!
Maybe they've changed it since then.

Methinks there are going to be two different quests running.

One is the Maddox servant questing chasing down different numbers of items or specific number of beaten opponents in the various maps.

The other will likely be a combination PVE, PVP type.

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly my experience with the other PvE quests, then this early collecting MAY not work. I say this because there are some quests where in order to kill the monster you had to first obtain a particular weapon. Coincidentally, I had obtained those weapons before the quest actually began. The thing was that when the quest began, the system ignored that I already had the desired weapon and required me to still purchase a new set. Admittedly, in this case its to do with a loot drop rather than an equipment purchase, but the system may still ignore what you already have. Still no harm in trying for someone at your level and strength. Just sharing and good luck!

Apparently, there are several types of previously unknown monsters in a few low-mid level maps, aside from Mysterious Cultist. Here they are in order of increased toughness:

Mysterious Cultist – The Jungle of Torments, 32 energy, 1785 gold, 9 XP, relatively easy kill

Mysterious Cultist – The River Bend, 34 energy, 2100 gold, 11 XP, relatively easy kill

Cultist of Maddox – Blisterfoot Bog, 36 energy, 2880 gold, 15 XP, relatively easy kill
Cultist of Maddox – Highland Pass, 40 energy, 3480 gold, 18 XP, relatively tough kill
Cultist of Maddox – Buried City, 44 energy, 4025 gold, 20 XP, relatively tough kill
Cultist of Maddox – The Murky Wallows, 50 energy, 5040 gold, 25 XP, relatively tough kill


Cultist of Maddox – Owlbear Hollow, 55 energy, 6000 gold, 28 XP, tough kill
Disciple of Maddox – Unsanctified March, 60 energy, 6825 gold, 29 XP, tough kill

Heretical Drinker - Unsanctified Marsh, 92 energy, 47 exp, 3520 Gold

Mistress Tenebrous – Buried City, 151 energy, 7342 gold, 88 XP, seriously tough kill

List might be incomplete and additions/corrections are welcome. It does look that we would need to get x amounts of Maddox stuff to get reward(s), but whatever it is – looks quite tough and really interesting…PROVIDED THAT THE REWARDS WORTH THE EFFORT;)

Thanks, QRaider - added! Strange thing here, though that the drinker takes tons of energy to hit, gives quite a lot of XP, but relatively little gold. The closest "cultist" is Disciple of Maddox[/B] – Unsanctified March, just 60 energy, yet 6825 gold, and just 29 XP. He does not look, like all those cultists, as well. Perhaps he, as well, as possibly Mistress Tenebrous belong to a different quest? Oh well - we'll see soon enough, I suppose.

OUTLIERS

It seems that both, Mistress Tenebrous and the Heretical Drinker do not belong to the list -all those "cultists"/"maddox disciples" look the same and are capable to drop loot. The Drinker and the Mistress look totally different and are not capable to drop loot. Perhaps, the "cultists" represent one type of quest (similar to "the daggers" based one), while the other monsters represent the other type of quest - similar to the latest Set LTQ, or we might get some combination of thereof...Any ideas?

I must admit that one thing I don't like about this kind of event (assuming that its like the Winter-themed one) is that its all or nothing. You either get all the items (and the prize), otherwise all the effort is wasted. Can make it quite risky on non-top level players or those with loads of gems to spare.

Would have been nicer if each item had some real "value" to the player, so that even if you could not get to the very end, it was not a total waste of time, effort, etc.

There is no event, LTQ yet. Please don't send ticket to support. When there is an event, it appears in the quest list.

There is no unit, as of yet. There is no quest, as of yet. There is no guarantee that you will recieve the unit just because you have [all] the pieces prior to the quest.

It's duel event going on. The Collect Maddox & another Collect 10 in the spirit of the Templar Champion. Health recovers 5% faster is top dog here. :)

That's all I've found so far. After you kill them they disappear.

Took me 7 cultists to kill to get a Helm, lvl 6 and they are quite tough. The whole thing appears to be more tough/energy consuming, than expected, at least by me :) Moving on

TIP: Do NOT KILL cultist, just hit ALL of them in all the maps and live them with ONE hit to kill then exit game and go back to the next one, and complete task, this seem to increase the chances of when getting to the next and do the "one hit" kill it will drop the require armor piece, I had mines like that and after ending number 5, numbers 6, 7
and 8 were a 1 hit task, lol

This might explain why I'm apparently having such good "luck." Should probably shut up now before it gets fixed. But by coincidence for cultists two through five, I had to leave them with one hit. When i came back and finished the deed, the armor dropped. So I think it works one at a time too.

Oh, what's left in the Tomb of Abaad that ORIGINALLY was there, still drops the usual things (mostly pathetic since everything was "adjusted). The bosses drop nothing now but elven rune boxes (lol) - but the gold rewards are the same (but NOT the quest bonus).

Ie, around 4000 for the amphibious spear people and 9000 gold for the Abyssal Demon Magician Who Needs Larger Clothes. And the Enchantress is over 10K. She's the reason I'm not actually done with the Maddox Armor. I have a silo to level up. Cash NOW is much more attractive than something I probably haven't any hurry over.

But once you take out a Set Challenge boss now, it's gone. And very annoying, some of my previous farming favs from the Tomb are not spawning any more. Piffle. I've not mastered this one yet because its one of the odd ones that spawns unpredictably now.

@Metajetta - I don't get why you want to kill those boss monsters just for the gold. There's so many other targets with much better gold/energy ratios and with chance of good loot.

When the Server updates/resets and an event comes on line, you're going to wish you had just killed the enemy. They reset their health, too.

I got mine but didn't get a splash screen because I had killed the last guy and got the loot before the event, all and all, quick good event with a decent top prize.

I wonder how bad the odds are? I got the final drop after about 2 tries on the last monster. So, either I got really lucky or the odds were just easy. Not complaining though, haha.

Weird, I noticed all the enemies were wearing the same clothes. It's almost as if they were in some sort of religious group together, or possibly maybe even a "cult", if you will. I know, it sounds crazy, but I wonder...
