View Full Version : What's so special about Priest of the Sands unit?

Have seen a guy on my battle list with more than 600 Priests of the Sands.

Thought he was a hacker as I got my only one through the latest LTQ, Set’s challenge. Then I checked out the in game store and found that Priest of the Sands is sold there for 210 gems. I never buy gem units, so I don’t have a comparative cost/performance table/info for them, but quite a few other players I know have dozens of Priests of the Sands in their inventories, so perhaps the guy I mentioned is legit, after all. Just spent a few thousand real dollars on those priests…

Are Priests of the Sands A/D 226/205, 210 gems indeed the best cost/performance gem items on sale? Do you habitually buy them?

You answered your own question here. YES! best value for money. However, if you are able to complete the boss events for less than 500 gems, id say there the best value for money units although they are not always readily available like the POS units. Personally i haven't gone into the mad rush of purchasing them yet as I purely focusing on massing my gem army from boss events and LTQs.

"YES! best value for money" Thanks, Proprioc3ption - as suspected :)
Boss events at my levels (172) are quite impossible to win beyond the first 10 - 12 rounds without a massive gems outflow, but LTQs are still doable...

It's funny you mention this unit.

When I had my Gamefly trial TapJoy Gems. I, too, purchased a Priest of the Sands. Why? As stated prior, their stats are best bang for the buck with Gems. Was it the smartest decision I made? Meh, probably not. But, it's my game.

LOL, when you say "One", or even a few, I understand, but when I saw over 600 - that, at least for me, was a bit strange...Well - different strokes for different folks, I guess :)

The player with best stats got over 900 POS. I think he will have a full indestructible army soon. lol

Why would anyone want 100, never mind 900?
@210 gems each, that is 21,000 gems - or nearly 15 vaults!

They Are the best deal as far as gem units go. By far

Still, 600 of those cost 126,000 gems. Which is 84 "mountains of gems." Which is 8400 dollars! I've bought gems, and will buy more before the Set's Challenge event is over, but can't imagine spending $1000 on this game no less 8k! Probably well over 10k if you assume someone who spends over 8 grand on one particular type of unit likely spends on other gem things as well.

Well, if I were filthy rich, perhaps I would spend that kind of money on a game. I have no idea what I'd spend my money on if I were a millionaire lol. But this middle class American about to fall off the fiscal cliff in 4 hours can't imagine spending that kind of money.

Still, 600 of those cost 126,000 gems. Which is 84 "mountains of gems." Which is 8400 dollars! $80x 20 (30,000gems)=$1600 with 20% sale + bonus claim month (50,000gems)= 80,000gems

$1600x2 months = $3200 = 160,000 gems

Or

$80x50 = $4000 ( 75,000gems)+bonus claim month (125,000gems)= 200,000 gems

Every gem spender uses the 20% sale plus the bonus claim month

Sorry, what is bonus claim month?

Gem bonus Club Membership, you gotta join up. Kristin is the cool babe at Gree that looks after me for now.

Buy a month, bonus received only once a month:
5 Mountains of gems = 2,500 extra gems bonus
10 " = 15,000 extra gems
20 " = 50,000 "
End of month, send in claim form/ email to your rep at Gree.

I'm surprised you did not know about this, Kruppe. Most big spenders are acquainted with the gem program.

I never heard of this program either, but then I don t usually buy gems. For me the whole point of the game was to get the best possible A/D through playing (say, a full dragon army augmented by high level kennel, fully advanced water temple and the best gear one could get via constant PvE) and have fun in the process.

What’s the point then, if anyone could just buy the whole gem units army and/or just buy oneself BD 10, Kennel 10, etc. without working for those?

Always thought that the auctions/leaders boards events were nuisance, but it seems that lately the whole game becomes “auction based”, especially after units’ A/D numbers were boosted, thus greatly devaluating the relative values of PvE based loot…

So, how in the world would the game continue on; without advertising, without "currency" buying? The point is you're playing a free game. Gem players help you continue playing or even the development of new events, units, functionality, updates, etc.

The point of the game for me is to continue building my free dragon army. But, have I bought in to have an edge? Absolutely. I'm still having fun.

I know you do understand, too, that the stat boosting was strategical for players?

I do appreciate developers’ positions/needs, although there are many ways to skin the case, as evidenced in fun, yet I suppose quite profitable latest LTQs.

My rant above was just a personal opinion, rather than a “value judgment” on gem playing in any way – to everyone – one’s own, although I don’t personally understand the fun of buying the whole gem armies…

As to stat boosting being strategic for DEVELOPERS – of course I understand that and have no doubts that you understand why I would have preferred the old valuations ;)

Most of us who do bulk purchases don't have issues with holiday money.

Then Gree is lucky to have such generous benefactors who don't have issues with holiday money.

I doubt I can continue spending what I've spent in just the last couple of months, but I sure would appreciate those bonus gems! Especially since I've spent a couple of mountains on this LTQ with so little to show for it!

You'll be able to claim this month. Just follow what I wrote and aim for the bonus that you want for this month. You have to buy all the mountains of gems within this month. For now, give Gree an email and tell them that you would like to join the Gem Bonus Club Program. They will assign you a rep and the rep will present you with all the information again and wait for your claim at the end of the month to process it for you. So pick whether you want the 5 Mountains, 10 Mountains or 20 Mountains of Gems for this month. You might want to wait for the 20% discount to kick in before purchasing.
