So does anyone know if the +5 mafia count for defense along with offense in PVP?

I hit someone who had the sleigh and a full mafia and it showed 498. I have the flail item that removes 2 mafia so I'd have to say as of now it only adds to attack. I have the sleigh so can for sure say it works on the attack side.
