I think when you are at the top, it's about having what others don't at whatever the cost and also the adrenaline that comes from the competition with the top people.

MyStiKaL aka The1nONLY will have to call upon all his past experiences to overcome the previous event winner named Hunter who seems to be an unsurmountable obstacle to the No 1 spot on the Leaderboard. I consider myself extremely lucky this time round. I've only spent just on a full vault of gems and am currently sitting on 43. I've used a pretty good strategy that has worked a treat for me from the start of the event. We all know that openings are great on the first day. I think it's important how you start in these events. Yesterday I managed to get successful openings for all of my attempts first go except one. I didn't open very many yesterday...about 6-7.

In the past these events had been a lot worse off for me, hence I stopped playing them. I wasted ridiculous amounts of money at times for nothing. I agree it's pointless and I may make this my last. I've had these gems sitting in my account for some time. I've decided once there gone that's the last of it for me, I'll just focus on building my dragon army and camping my arse on level 68.

Good to see a few of us in the top 50! Good luck to us all, especially The1nOnly! Wish we could gift gems to other players...I'd gladly donate to him to win it! ;-)

Current successful open rate and increase per-day for the average player at rank 50 is 6.8-8.5
My theory is if I can stay 10-12 ahead of the player at rank 50, I could go without a successful opening on the last day and I would still remain in the top 50.

There could be a mad rush with a few hours to go, but we all know from past experiences that the end of the event is not the most favourable for successful openings. People will tend to waste money at the end of the event...but the smart way to go about it is too stock up when you get on a good run early in the piece.

Getting a little tighter but I'm feeling quite comfortable on 48 atm. You guys should be fine too! I'll be watching all day for any serious movement, but I'll do the casual open 1 every hour thingy. No point in spending extra gems if you've got it in the bag with limited time left. I think I'm safe in saying that being 10-12 ahead of the pack will be a safe bet.

Totally agree...I'm sure most people are feeling the wasted dollars today.

Yep, I think hunters plan is to stay right with The1nOnly till the final 1 or 2 hours most likely. It's going to come down to who has and is willing to pump the most gems/$$$ let's be honest, MONEY, in at the end to win. The problem they both will face is how much are they willing to pump in at the final hoorah? Unfortunately the Leaderboard freezes, so they will be playing blind. We do know that The1nOnly has a plethora of gems at his disposal as well as boxes I'm sure. We're not sure about Hunter. We need to remember that Hunter only one the fruit event because really, hardly anyone was participating due to the boycott of the auction event as units were simply crap for the money you were paying.

The question is...who will jump first?

I agree go all out, but I believe The1nONLY has a plan and will time it right. I don't think Hunter has the gems in his/her account to challenge, but I may be wrong. Either way, they have both spent BIG already, so you may as well go all out or cut your losses now. It's a little like a game of poker, the final show of cards will reveal a winner...one will walk away having achieved his goal, and hopefully the win will ease the loss of fatness from his wallet. The other would have blown thousands of dollars. This is actually quite serious.

A mate of mine had a really bad run in the last hour. Not a good time to purchase as I just wanted to test my theory that there are times in the day to open and i was right...it was a bad time to open. i wasted 280 to get 1 winters breath. Time to hold off till the final hours I'm guessing.

I tried once to get from 20 to 25 and I used over 400 gems -_- bdw I'm guessing that you will need 22 to stay in top 250

If you want to be safe Top 250, you probably need 24 or 25. Right now at 20 for last spot.

You will need minimum a mountain of gems. This is minimum. You are quite behind and there is no guarantee you will be in Top 250.

In my last 2 250 events in MW its always good plan to be ahead a couple of items from the lowest 250... being at the 250 is difficult because you are also competing with other players who has the same # of items and stats, if you are tied at 250 the higher stats would be the tie breaker or I should say heart breaker!

They froze the leader board in the last hour & how come you seen it..? Thats weird...

If you are watching it when time expires sometimes you can see the final leaderboard for a few seconds. Overtime (OT) refers to the period after time has completely expired but you leave your device on the box open screen. Turn off auto lock, and do not leave that screen for any reason, even collecting your buildings. Note that if your device is your phone this means you cannot use it for any other purpose, ie calling someone. It's best done on an iPad where someone cannot call you and screw it up. You also cannot collect any new boxes, so you'd have to stockpile plenty of them. This allows you to get the 25 token unit prize, but will not let you win any prizes that are competed for, as the server awards those when time expires. As a result of this, this strategy is best used for the (admittedly few) collect 10 style events, as those boosts are actually worth going OT for sometimes. I think this limitation is why Gree moved away from doing collect 10 events. That, or outright corporate greed.

I was having issues with making an iTunes purchase an hour before the event ended. Contacted my bank to authorize payment and after a long time dealing with them I was finally able to get gems with 2 1/2 minutes left. Ended up landing 2 more which ended up giving me a rank of 48 on the leader board with 55 items. Close call.

So I ended up with 63 at the end. I spent 2,560 gems all up. The last 2 days killed me. 1000 gems in the last day alone...so, don't wait till the end to spend if your going for it. Spend early.

I knew that it wld end up as a sub 60 top 50, the final places were made up by players on 55 successful opens.

You did incredibly well Hammer. I went through 8,000 gems on this practice run. Tried all kinds of methods and ways to see which ones suited my style of play. I just followed your advice and Kruppe on how many to get to win Top 50 before I went to sleep and whalla, open KA in the morning when I woke up and the Top 50 prize was there. Good experience. I should be more experienced for the next event.

It's one of the main reasons I like KA better because believe it or don't dragons are so much easier to replace then Elite Ops Water Cruisers or Orbital Hammers. I believe they learned a lot of lessons about what they could get away with on MW, and KA has benefited from this. Like I said, the main reason people aren't complaining as much is because casualties don't hurt as much when it's just in game cash, vice irreplaceable honor.

I mean, think about this: if they released an honor purchase-able unit that had stats of like 250/200 for 1000 honor each (and a casualty rating of "low" lol), and you lose 1-3 of them *per battle*, then you would care *very* much about casualty rates.

I'd honestly be very surprised if he could see a difference in casualty rates, he's easily got enough gems and has spent enough time doing events to have an all gem or nearly all gem army.
