To warn future addicts, how much gold do i spend on MW

Also i am that much ashamed that i will not tell you what my overall amount is but rest assure all you will instantly turn your back on me if i would tell you that. You dont want to be around with an idiot like me. Ok therevwe go:
I have won all leaderboards up till today (i will loose this one, sigh, perhaps nr 50 with non gold openings as my energy replenished fast). Anyways, i need an average of about 1000 successfull openings on leaderboard to win (one huge exeption of course was when i needed 1600). For 1000 on leaderboard i need 3000 crates as the successrate is about 1:3. In fact i need 4080 crates as i keep about 1080 crates in reserve for the last hour. (I can open 1080 crates in one hour max if necessary.)

I am an impatient man. This is good news for gree because i more or less purchase these crates by camping at a mission site and constantly refilling my energy. This is far more expensive than filling your stamina and steal crates but it is much and much quicker. That is important to me as i do not want to take any risk loosing because of slow collecting. This way i pay about 12 gold per crate.

I open all crates with gold obviously and have no time whatsoever to wait for the timer. Hence every opening costs me 30 gold.

So to do the math: 4080 crates to purchase x 12 gold = about 50.000 gold plus 3000 openings x 30gold = 90.000 gold hence i spend about 140.000 gold to win one leaderboard only.

This is extremely confronting..... Where is my medicine ;)

This is true. The only fortunate thing is that it does not have an effect on my life but that does make it less idiotic. If i throw such amounts over the fence, perhaps just before doing that i should do something else with it. Even gambling is better as you have a small chance to win something.

"Oh yeah that makes my game better." Once you use the gold, you want to keep using the sweet gold. It is a double edged sword to say the least.

Be careful about casting blanket accusations like this and calling spenders idiots. In all fairness, you have no idea what they do with the rest of their money. For all you know, Ferr has given 100 times this amount in charitable contributions. He could be supporting an entire village of starving children that you don't know about. It's a ton of money and yes, it could go a long way at helping people who are unable to help themselves. I think all of us probably have some addiction issues, LOL but my thinking is that money is relative.

A good friend of mine makes more in one year than I will make in the next 20. I am not jealous, but rather very proud of him as he has grown his company from his garage to a major company in my area. He touches so many lives and is one of the most generous people I know. If Ferr or others choose to spend some disposable income on a pastime, I applaud them and rather than being jealous am glad that they are able to do so.

We all need from time to time take a step back and evaluate our decisions and perhaps the boycott is doing that for many people. This is great for them but maybe not so good for Gree.

As a former competitive athlete, I like to win. The events, given I had resources, would want to win too. Those that are on the top are probably competitive by nature and the game probably exacerbates that.

These heavy gold spenders have allowed me to enjoy a game for little money and I thank you. PJ, Miner, Ferr, WP and so many others are quality people and in the end this is just a game, but the character of these people as you can easily deduce by reading their posts and the fellowship is what is valuable when this game is long gone.

If you stop buying gold, use the money for a trip to the US and everyone should get together which would be a blast.

Wow, that is some money! When the boycotts started, I thought if the big dogs joined them, they would take a step back and have second thoughts, and this would cost Gree some serious money. I know the first time I left MW and CC sit for a weekend, I felt refreshed. Now I have a much different perspective on the games. I still spend a little money here and there, but nowhere near the time I used to, and if buildings are ready to collect, I am less apt to drop what I am doing to collect.

I really don't think he is. He's been asked a ton of times what it takes to win the leader board events and I view this as just answering the questions he's asked all the time. I can see how one might view this as bragging, but from what I've seen out of Ferr and the PM's I've got back from him, I don't view him as arrogant or one prone to brag.

It's a ton of money we're talking about, that's true. And to take PJ's point a step further, those that $20k is a substantial part of their income will be more likely to look at Ferr and think he's bragging. (I don't mean that to sound like I'm saying you're in that group of people) Those that $20k is a small to (relatively speaking), will more than likely realize he's just sharing information. It's like a wealthy friend of mine saying he had an expensive steak for dinner when I ask him what he ate last night and me calling him a bragger because I ate McDonald's. He didn't mean to brag. He just meant to answer my question.

Again, I applaud you for your convictions. I don't think anyone here would disagree that money spent helping others is better than money spent on a game. I found my self spending something like 200 euro´s a month and realized that its far from enough to make me a "winner" in this game. Therefore i decided to cut that amount in half and do something better with the other half.

I suggested to my wife that this money will go to a fund for her new dubbel d´s but she refused so we are now sponsors of five children in Africa..... Felt like ( 4 letters begins with S ) at first but now im getting the winner feeling from it and almost spending nothing on fake Gree gold...

Well pirate let me be very clear on this. I will take them on, on terms they wont believe. There is really nothing for me to loose exept for empty honor or units in this game. On the auction events, you all clearly see how far Ferr, Pirate Enforcer, and many others is will to take the game...again, for many, impossible...yet it is done.

Granted these are in game examples but in the real world, the same can be said.

In closing, for those who thinks something is impossible for them, it doesn't mean someone else can't make it happen. You can disagree and have your doubts but there is no need to piss on someone else's thread.

Ethics classes are an oxymoron regarding any college. Nothing against you. I just hate them. I remember getting hit with a 2k bill I had to pay because neither financial aid or my student loans would cover a class that went 2 credits over. "Pay to continue your classes ". If I have learned anything, never ever accept a loan, and always triple check the fine print.

I always remember seeing ferr these past 4 months wen I first started playing on the top of the leader boards... And I wish u well-- the beginning of this post reminded me of when I finally got sick of playing WOW...with raiding 4-5 times a week to farming for gold to pay for raiding, to ultimately having to put up with inter-clan politics that a mass of 70 people vying to get a raid spot in a 25 man rotation brings.

I have started to realize humans, by nature like the work/reward system...and ALL app based or mmo's capitalize on our innate natures to see a finalized project...I.e. amassing a huge army, allies, and smashing enemies with those fruits acquired.

I thank u Ferr for speaking from experience and casting a warning to anyone reading this and playing (tangent conversations aside). I catch myself from wanting, excruciatingly, to grab the gold easily and get that peverbial carrot Gree is dangling w the bosses/cases... But then I think, it IS just a game,,, everyone plays it how they want or live life by (rich or poor), and then I think begrudgingly no to the gold. ( I have only spent as of this 7.99 usd with the 25% off sale 3 weeks ago,,, what can i say-- im a sucker for solar)

As for the 12 year old with the b-ll$hit posts of the world and its causes, I say unto u.... Get a life yourself. Hippocrates are like a$$holes, we all got one and know a few more. Apart from being a dual hippo-critical a$$,, u win the award for missing the big picture of a man posting the forums of a Game U PLay, and seeing that now his life has changed and he wants to experience something else now....money aside, this game was to ferr as wow was to me 4 years ago... A release from the day to day, a way to decompress and to also cyber-mingle w mates.

Gree, I usually don't write to most forums (except overclockers, lol); however tonight prior to reading this I was gunna drop a hundo to get that choice tiger-boat prize that decreases casualties by 5% and realized the futility of that purchase... Because in 4 years// or 4 more months where will I be in real life vs caring about playing?
