I have 2300 energy. I had full energy when event started and needed 224 more xp for a level up. That got me 450 there. Then I did a few resets for a little cushion.

My guess is that the top 10 will be around 10,000+.

Pve and pvp count as i understand it, I dunno about bosses.

But if a mission is 6 hits at 198, that counts as only 1 mission.

I wasn't going to go for this event. But I am curious as to see how much the gold players will influence this event like all the others. I am going balls to the wall on this one, if I don't place top 10, then I will have lost all faith in this game and events.

I have the falcon jet, and will gladly trade it for the price reduction unit. ;). One good thing about this event is you can watch some of the top spenders if your in the whale zone. As for cost... 20 gold gets you 100 missions completed.

With my +2 boost, I have 300 energy an hour. (Might be 5 per 50 seconds, not 100% sure). So 30 missions an hour. So definitely gonna require some gold to win....I'd say gold to even get in the top ten...

One of the things that crossing lvl 130 removes-worrying about leveling up. Gotta love it. Stay below 150 if you want a better boss bracket though...

Yep, that's where I am now. Defeating the boss for 100 gold is SWEET! I'll hang back until they make it harder, which they will eventually do.... Right now I farm loot, and stopped doing PVP, so I don't level but once a week it seems.

You can add 299 more for me bringing my total to 1.279. I levelled up to lvl 129. I'm knocking the door for whale zone now. I'm not prepared for it but I did what I could to improve my defences. It's not enough and I wish I could be closer to 100k A/D. At the same time I'm a free player and I can't feel so bad as I'm still in better position than many others.

One thing I noticed while doing missions, which only happened once, was a sudden refill of 500 energy. I dumped 1800 energy, returned to base, and it said +500, and let me use that too. I wasn't using wifi, so not sure if something was out of synch. Kinda neat.

And yea I used gold for refills, and a level up. Few hundred gold or so when I was bored. Probably a waste because I have a feeling lurkers are using this thread to set the baseline for how many missions they need.

I've just finished my night shift and kept myself busy with missions to make sure I don't do that bad. My last number is 1730. It's a bity I forgot to take a picture to show I'm telling true. I kept myself as a free player. Of course it's hand when you have a bonus event where the energy refills quicker. I confess I had I moment I wanted to spend some gold but I respect the boycott and carried on free. I hope I can reach 2k missions which in my case is a good accomplishment by itself. gotta think to make it that high is really tough with out alot of gold. 1000 energy is all a refill buys, thats 100 hits. so to get 3000 you need 30 refills. starting to get expensive here.

I've been playing along in this event (and all of the others since being robbed in the IPH event) as a free player so I know I have no chance of top 10. I am at about 1300 missions right now. If my math is correct, 1296 is the number of missions someone would have if they started with 0 energy and never maxed out over the weekend. Add in some energy earned before the event started and I think the cutoff for gold vs free is at most 1500 missions (barring any level ups in there). At least with this event we'll be able to make a pretty good guess on the gold spending assuming we get a final leader board with counts.
