Because this is sitting here as the supreme off-topic ok and allowance, checking in to see what's your favorite action movie and why.

I don't have one, but like Equalibrium (martial arts with guns and some swords, nice!), The Matrix (c'mon, was original in its time), The Man From Nowhere (foreign, decent acting and some nice fighting scenes), The Professional (foreign, classic in nature)

My favs are:
All Bruce Lee movies, Saving Private Ryan, most Jet Li, Rambo series, early Steven Seagal, Bloodsport, Ong Bak series, some of Jason Statham movies, Almost all Clint Eastwood. These are some of my favorite action movies. The story can be lame at some (except SAving Private Ryan) but pure action, it delivers.

Nice! What about Ip Man? I forgot to mention those. Pretty good, though I won't be watching any of the others made on the subject.

My two favourite are Dario Argento's Suspiria, an amazing atmospheric and colourful Italian Horror film and George A Romero's Dawn of the Dead, the ultimate zombie film in my opinion. Interestingly Dawn of the Dead is produced to by Dario Argento and both use the Italian progressive rock band Goblin for it's soundtracks, which are some of my favourite horror soundtracks of all time.

The 300, Troy, Hero, anything Jackie Chan, Blade: Crazy fight scenes

Starship Troopers: Love watching the humans get their asses kicked for once.

X-Men, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Avengers etc - super powers kicking tons of ass.

Pretty much any of the new marval movies
Any James Bond movie from Dr. No to Skyfall

Seconded on the James Bond series - except I tend to think that "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was so bad it deserves to be the one no one talks about with the actor no one acknowledges.

But for a more cult classic: Big Trouble in Little China!

Late Roger Moore Bond is hard to take seriously. "A View to a Kill" might not make the cut. Much as I like Christopher Walken as Max Zorin.

Walken reminds me...

The Deerhunter: action or drama? what qualifies as an action film?
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Seven Psychopaths
In Bruges?

Mainly the movies of james bond are the best action movies. The reason could be well understood just by watching the movie named casino royale

Pandorum, even though Its a sci-fi thriller, it has THE Cung Le in it.

Bruce Lee movies go hand in hand with Seagal movies. Deadly Crossing matches up to Enter the Dragon for sure.

There are a bunch of old, but really good movies out there (and I still need 10 freakin posts).

Yojimbo - ok, it's Japanese and most of us would need subtitles, but a really awesome movie about a ronin tough guy samurai.

White Heat - yes, it's black and white, but the performance of James Cagney playing a needy psychopathic gangster is awesome.

Cape Fear - there is the original and the remake, but both are worth watching

Still need more posts, but I forgot about High Noon. Gary Cooper plays a sheriff in a town. His problem is that a bunch of gunmen are coming to kill him and no one in the town (for the most part) really wants to help. Really good gunfight at the end

One of Alfred Hitchcocks best. Features Cary Grant playing an anybody ad man who is mistaken for a spy (sort of, but you have to watch to know why). Hitchcock even has this great scene where Grant's character is just standing in front of a cornfield for a long time. The point, oddly enough, is to build up suspense and not knowing what's going to happen next

Black and white movie about a bunch of American prisoners of war held in Nazi Germany. It is one of the first movies to have an antihero. William Holden plays a prisoner who is always finding ways to get stuff from his fellow prisoners (definitely not likable). But when it becomes clear that there is an informer in the barracks and Holden's character takes the blame, he uses his street smarts to first figure out who the informer is and then what to do about it.

A absolute rip off of the Seven Samurai (which is also worth watching if you can handle black and white and subtitles), but despite that a great western. 7 gunmen agree to defend a small village from a large pack of bandits. Great shoot outs with Yul Brynner in arguably his most memorable roll.

Dustin Hoffman's next movie after the graduate. Hoffman plays an old man recollecting his days living as a Cheyenne and a white man. Richard Mulligan, Chief Dan George, Faye Dunaway also have memorable performances.

Kind of a borderline action movie, but it has some of the best movie lines of all time including:

"What we have here is failure to communicate"

"Nah, calling it you job don't make it right, boss"

Yes, the special effects are terrible by today's standards, but they were cutting edge 80 years ago. This movie spawned two remakes (a terrible one in the late 70's and a watchable one in 2005) because it was so good. The original story of how beauty killed the beast is well worth the watch.

This sequel surpasses the original movie (Alien). This movie is loaded with mom's kicking ass to protect children. Arguably Sigourney Weaver's most memorable movie roll at its apex.

World War Z wasn't all that great :/

Although, Man of Steel was pretty good this year. I also like Tron Legacy. Why? The effects are awesome, and there are 3 different story-lines if you pay attention. 1: father and son, 2: love story between Quorra and Sam, and 3: God/Evolution.

Ong Bak (the 1st) - most wicked kick (crushes the guy's chest in the ring)
Highlander - Immortals & head chopping
Matrix - You really need to ask why?
Full Metal Jacket - "slap!" What side was that, Private Pyle?
Sin City - I wish my parole officer looked like that
Batman - (w/ Bale & Ledger)
Twilight - (take the teenage love campy stuff out of it)
Clash/Wrath of Titans - Again, you really need to ask?
Lord of Rings/Hobbit -
X-Men 1st Class - For comic book adapting into movies, this really wasn't bad
Anything Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or Jet Li is in.
Bloodsport - (Frank Dux was a true bada$$)
Kickboxer - I've met/sparred w/ Dennis Alexio

Not often a second or third sequel makes it in my top 10.
