Defense

Can someone explain to me the defense? It is never actually what the numbers suggest? What is the best way to beef up my defense? Is it weapons/armor/vehicles, etc or hood defenses? Do they protect against robbing, attacks or both? Really lost with this respect of the game. Thanks

When Attacking someone they use all of there weapons defense and half of there building defense. When robbing someone they use half of there weapons defense and all of there building defense.

I will never really understand it. I have 75k attack and successfully robbed someone with an actual defense of 98k 28 out of 32 times. I was shocked and I didn't even burn any of my sarin grenades. Napalm was a different story......
