I was lucky enough to win 250 gems in the name the monster contest!! Never had gems before and would love some input on the best way to invest them!!

A good rule of thumb for new ppl using gems to open boxes. Expect it to average around 120 to 200 gems to get a box item. Gem opens average about a 33% chance. So if you wait an hour in between opens you can avg 120 gems an item. If you use a reset it can cost 200 gems. Keep in mind this is an overall average from my event experience. You could get lucky and get 2-3 items in a row or it might take 4-5 opens to get one. But this is a good rule of thumb so you know what to expect.

Congrats man, definitely save it for the boss events as previously mentioned. At level 51 you'll be placed into a new tier (making the bosses harder), so you might be able to get 2x 30 boss kill rewards out of these 250 gems depending on your attack score.

I'd have to respectfully disagree. He's only lvl 44, so with decent stats, reaching 30 kills w/ 250 gems is easily attainable. The 30th kill unit this go around was a 900/700 unit, which will give a better stat boost than 4 crate units.

Tiki, you read my mind. I was thinking of buying one chest only and see what comes out of the box. Hmmm, what to do...boss, box or chest? Good problem to have. Ohh, dont waste it on indestructible units, that would be the worse (decision).

I won gems on the last name that unit event and had the same question. I ended up saving the gems for the boss event. For a total of 90 gems over 2 events (I still have more left) I was able to get to 15 bosses (for 30 gems) and get the Hydra, 20 bosses and get the Bear (for an additional 60 gems) and also got 3 additional rares and 4 additional uncommons from thoses bosses that I beat using gems. I can't think of any circumstance that would achieve a better return for 90 gems spent over 2 events. (Note: I didn't need gems to get the sapphire dragon in the most recent event and was too far from 30 to use gems)

I for one totally agree with Dr. Dengus. Use them on the boss - the 30 kill unit is way better than anything else you could do with them.

At low levels bosses are fine. If anyone ever has plans to actually level in this game (lol) I'd think about saving them to buy gem money buildings. The payoff from them long term (in unit/equipment purchases) would surpass a few event units.

I like your thinking. How about using gems to buy allies? Every ally will increase your attack and defense by about a hundred-ish points. That is way more effective than spending those same gems on a unit.

Cool, I made the voting list with my suggestion. After locating the voting thread though, it looks like I didn't win the popular vote, but 250 gems will be helpful for the next bosses. I'm going to jump into the next tier by the time another one comes around, I don't know if I can avoid it.

My level 30 boss in the dragon boss event had. About 670k health which was 26-27 hits or roughly 5 cure potions. I should have only required 160 gems to beat 30 but was busy when playing so I missed a lot of timers. Only got 2 rares and 6 uncommons this time but the previous one I got 6 rare and 6 uncommon so definitely camp and buy flaming cats for next boss. In hindsight I wish I would have went with flaming cats instead of trebuchets but soon I will be at level 50 and building dragons so kind of too late to worry about that. Good luck. And please don't use it on an upgrade or a land expansion! Lol

Noooooo! Spend your gems on upgrading your cottages. Use the 'upgrade immediately' option. With 250 gems, that should be enough for say... one or two free upgrades. Then your Kingdom will look very dapper with levelled up cottages. Everyone will be deeply envious of you and your cottages, and I expect many players will request your alliance. Cottages !

Actually I didn't have that many dragons for the hydra and the bear. The dragons are now allowing me to get the 15/20 boss usits without gems. I don't think it helps much over lvl 100 but at lvl 84 with a decent attack you should be able to get to 11 or 12 bosses. The gems can get you to 15 (some dragons probably needed to get to 20)
