For those who don't know what FFN is (non-forum players), I will quote the founder of the FFN thread:

"As most people here are all allies I thought it would be fun if those on a similar level un-allied for a 1 on 1 battle just one attack each to put a bit of spice in the game PLUS they can then tell or show you your defence screen which we otherwise wouldn't get a chance to see then re-allie back up shake hands and move on."

There you have it. So now, in order to compete with another player, I have to gain approximately 100 allies to even our armies out.
