Many of these items are from previous events! Especially the common and the uncommon!

Those commons are from the very first crates. They average just 48 points....

I think that's the point. HLs/veteran big spenders will ignore these crates and their stats will stay relatively static until the next set, while lower levels/rookie big spenders won't mind these crates and will be able to catch up to the stronger players a little bit. You'll need to buy even more of the next crates to keep the same advantage you had before weaker rivals bought up these ones while you wisely ignored them.

Hmm, does Gree think the players are idiots? I take that back, after seeing some with 800+ yatchs or land mines.

I just tried them for a chance and just wanted to buy something. Got 6 crates. 6 commons... What do ya know :(
That would be it. Wanted at least 1 rare for collection. High hopes.

This is actually a promotion strategy of ammo crates. :)

Are you kidding? It's their entire market strategy.

I kinda feel ya on that but does putting a product out for 2 weeks that doesnt entice people to buy it create enough of a demand when the next ones come out (assuming they are any better) to offset the month long dip in purchases following back-to-back sht crates...??

The previous crates were standard... You can't expect those 50% bonus every alternate crate...

But these are sooo bad! That even the drops from last map are on par or better!

I don't think that their sales have been affected at all, because whatever crates they put out, there would still be almost the same number of (different) people buying them every month. It works the same way as the leaderboard events.

Yah previous were standard but also recycled, which added to the bad taste in my mouth following good product output...
Its like they are punishing us after giving us what we wanted ha ha

Leader board is diff because when a big fish backs off it opens a slot otherwise unavailable...bad crates are available to everyone as are good ones so there isnt some sudden opportunity that wasnt there before like leader board example

Could you post some numbers to differentiate between the standard / 50% bonus / very weak crates? So, an average of 48 for commons is bad, what would standard be and what would the best we've seen be? Thanks!

Refer to Paulio's spreadsheet:

http://www.funzio.com/forum/showthread.php?38562-Crate-Items-Spreadsheet

Mobster crates which are nearly the same as current are the weakest. Common stat around 48.
Ammo crates are the best with the 50% bonus. Common stat around 78
Other crates are normal. Common stat around 50.

Difference between normal and weak don't seem much different with commons, but the gap becomes larger with uncommons and rares.

Thank you. So the spectrum looks like:
Mobster: Rave=275; Uave=129; Cave=48
Crime Scene: Rave=310; Uave=142; Cave=50
Ammo: Rave=504; Uave=219; Cave=78

No probs, so since end game PVE loot averages around 45, ammo crates were the only ones worth it if you're sticking around for the long haul.

Once you go Ammo Crates you don't go back

Usually after a "Gold Sale" do not expect good crates, for at least 2-3 weeks.

Another question I have about crates is I've seen some postings that state the time of day you purchase the crates affects your chances of getting better items. If you buy them in the wee hours of the morning, you have a better chance of uncommons and rares. Is there any emperical data that supports this or is it just a subjective perspective based on a small sample of player experiences? I have a difficult time believing the server side is implemented to take time of day into consideration...unless perhaps it's used as a seed to a random number generator.

You can also light some black candles, throw salt over your shoulder, turn three time and say 'Hex Hex Hex!'

The effect on crate drop rates should be about the same as the time of day.
