View Full Version : How many indestructibles are present in your army?

Zoltarov

Since I updated KOD's excel tool with my unit numbers I was really surprised by the number of indestructibles in my army.
All the events from the past as well as purchases in gold have build quite a force?
I have now just over 1000 indestructables.
I am curious of the number of indestructables in other peoples armies.

Sorry for the type o in the poll header

are you talking about units you actually take to battle? i think i may need Kod's spreadsheet for that..

Zoltarov
09-01-2012, 07:38 AM
Yes i am using KOD's spreadsheet for units into battle, but also for straight numbers using the filters.
I want to know how many units you have that will never die if taken to battle.

Counting them from your inventory is not very easy.

Interesting thread only because I think the gold units are the single biggest problem in MW. We all want them because they can't be destroyed, but in the end they will be the downfall of MW.

I mean if we all have indestructible armies what is the point of this game? We will all hunker down in our gold bunkers and throw snowballs at each other. Occasionally we may hit someone but who cares there will be no damage.

It is the ability to lose that makes the game interesting. If that risk is gone what purpose is there to this game?

Who needs an economy? You can't buy gold with it, so it is increasingly devalued.

Who needs strategy when your most strategic move can be blown apart by an all gold army.

In the end, many will start asking who needs MW?

Great point, Mad. I would add that this can be addressed with new higher value cash units, which the game desperately needs. Economy is just for ego unless new units are introduced.

Economy is just for ego unless new units are introduced.Your right it is, then of Gree did bring out high price indestructables the ones with big economy would gain massively. And ways more satisfying than been able to hold your own as a free player. But on the other hand most ppl with biggest economy are gold players anyway lol.

I think that would really help. In fact, it would be nice to have some cash units with strong against gold ability.

Another thing that would help is to limit how many gold units can be brought into battle. For example, in any given battle or raid at least 25% of the units must be cash/valor units.

It is the ability to lose that makes victory sweet.

I don't think this is a viable option. Cash units with strong against gold? There would be no incentive to buy gold units if a free player could use in game cash and beat ur gold army. Interesting idea but no gold buyer would stand for that.

At a certain point your indestructibles are fading out of your army into battle. This is now starting to happen in my army.
I would prefer an option to take a maximum of indestructibles into battle even if it would not be in my favor.

Thats why if we want a gold army, we gotta work hard as a pro, if you don't have a degree then you gotta work two job in order to buy gold.. This game is going to be for rich people only someday who can beat those lowly free players...

Strong against doesn't mean invincible against. I have Global Hawk Drones with a D15 and strong against Air. However, I am under no illusion that if I buy a couple of these, that they will fend off every single air attack. They help, but these drones are not invincible and can themselves be destroyed.

These strong against gold units would only be able to repel gold units, they would not be able to destroy gold units. The gold unit offers no promise other than it "can't be destroyed."

But in order to maintain the long term viability in MW, it is essential to maintain the ability to lose. Without that what is the purpose of playing. If I win everytime, it will quickly become boring.

As it is right now, MW is caught in the unending spiral of needing to provide bigger and better gold units to keep enticing people to buy. Look at the latest event, you can win a unit with 3000 attack -- unheard of.

But a few months ago, the stats of the rare units routinely dropping in the Boss event today were the stats for the most powerful units available at that time.

Gold buyers need to realize that everytime a new more powerful unit (3000 A) comes out, it devalues units they spent hundreds of dollars buying a few months ago. It is inflation MW style.

Part of the problem is MW's revenue stream is based in large part on the purchase of gold units and events featuring gold units, so in order to entice people to keep buying gold units and playing events they must offer bigger and more powerful units.

Could the 3000 A unit in the current event (which some have spent thousands of dollars buying), become the rare drop unit in the Boss event by December?

In order for MW to continue it needs maintain its revenue base. But I would like to see it reduce its dependency on gold unit purchase and have wondered about a second revenue stream such as a monthly subscription which would offset this dependency.

Monthly subscribers would receive benefits such as special units, special maps, special events etc. Lots could be offered.

I understand your point. But you talk about higher value gold units devaluing previously purchased gold units... Of course they are and that's how this game works (for Gree to make money). What do you think offering a stong against gold cash unit does? It would devalue a persons gold units. Only it devalues it in favor of a free player, which they are never going to do and they shouldn't. People who have paid real money should have the advantage.

The only way a subscription based game would work is if they implemented that from the creation of a game. If they tried to change the rules now and implement that strategy it is still only going to upset their big spenders who are paying their salaries.

As I see it, the only way to solve some of these issues are to offer two versions of the game. Have a free player version and then obviously the current version remains the same as it is now. Then free players could play against only free players. Still offer indetructibles in events but do not allow any real money purchases in this version.

Don't get me wrong, I think Gree has taken things to the extreme. I complain about the leaderboard events catering to the super spenders and it does. But Gree obviously is only looking at what makes the most money and keeps the big gold players happy. They don't care what the free players and light to medium spenders want for the game. They don't care about giving anyone a fair chance. In their mind everyone has a fair chance because everyone has the same option.... To spend real money!

My point is if you win all the time, what is the point of playing. For me losing and having to develop a strategy to counter my loss is what makes the game interesting.

I don't think a lot of players realize the new units are devaluing their old units. But what concerns me is the rate of inflation -- it is staggering. I remember a few weeks back a person showed a picture of his gold unit he had purchased back in December. It was the powerhouse unit of the day -- a staggering 40A and 20D or something close to that. A week ago a unit came out with 3000 A....

We are agreed on one thing, change is needed. The key to the change is maintaining the revenue stream because without it GREE doesn't exist and neither does this game.

In last auction event, one player on this forum said he spent $2500. In a few months, that unit he won will be the rare drop in the Boss event. What do you think that player is going to do when that happens?

Changes are needed not just for the free players, but for the gold buyers as well.

I believe a subscription could be offered at any time and as long as the monthly cost wasn't astronomical and there was real value, people would subscribe.

I've been wondering this (OP) myself - so I guess I gotta go find KoD's spreadsheet link somewhere and take 45 minutes to log all my units.

As far as the OT conversation that broke out - there is one factor you guys aren't taking into account - and that is NEW players that have yet to discover the game and will jump in at some point and want to catch up. Also - MW just recently came out on Android - so there are future formats that can follow - Facebook - Google Pus - tens of thousands of new (gullible) customers that it will take 6 to 9 months to figure out the Money Fishing that drives this game.

Oh yeah - ALL THE UNITS in CC are basically indestructible and that game isn't over yet.
