That just means that you can only use 42 units. It's limited due to your number of allies. Each one brings 3 units and you can use 5 allies per level.

I dont understand why Funzio makes everything such a low chance in KA. (rares/chest openings/equipment drops) It's not like it costs them money every time a Rare drops; but instead it frustrates a lot of ppl.

Think you need to also let people know what level you're at because the bosses (and prizes) vary according to certain bands (I know there's one at lvl 50, for example). If you're sub-lvl 50 and someone quotes you their gold hit damage for above-lvl 50, it would not make a lot of sense. Also, the gold hit damage will vary according to the units that the particular player is able to bring against the boss. To be meaningful, you would need the player to be in the same band as you, and to tell you what each of his gold hits was worth and the total number of hits he took to kill the boss (assuming all gold hits, otherwise you'll have to do the same for free/gem hits). That way, you can calculate the strength of the lvl 15 boss in your band, and then determine whether you can kill him and in what combination of hits.

Sorry for the long post ... I must admit that all of the above seems like too much hard work for me :)

I've kept low allies most of the game and added a bunch for this boss event. Because of this I don't have enough weapons/armor to outfit my entire army. How do you guys choose what equipment to buy? Definitely can't afford to buy a bunch of Hawkslayer Leathers and Mail Crushers right off the bat. Should I start by buying 50 pieces of the cheaper stuff, then slowly move on to the more expensive stuff? Ie: buy 50 honed broadswords, then 50 scorching bows, then 50 fine scimitars etc.?

I think this will be the last # boss I can beat before I need to start using gems (not going to bother). Most items were commons with around 2 uncommons. Got 1 rare, Conjured Flame 165/60, and of course the Scarred Hydra 263/338.

A bit OT but I've had equally bad luck on CC's Boss event. Up to boss #18 and still no rares. Rates have been nerfed a bit it appears, or maybe I'm really unlucky.

Gotcha thanks for the tip, that does seem like the most logical way to go. For 3600 a Flaming catapult will give me 22 attack at the moment, or for 7400 I can buy a Scorching Bow for only 11 A lol.

Being at a lower level, I also prefer a lower ally count during normal play.

I try not to let an event change my strategy too much. That being said, I don't want to spend money on units or weapons/armor that will not be much use to me in the long run. If you want the best bang for the buck, you can buy high attack units but I don't want to lose them in PVP. I decided as a strategy to invest in high value weapons/armor. It takes longer to build your stats though. I have 58 Mail Crushers, 107 Heavy Battleaxes and 120 Hawkslayer Leathers. They fit into my game strategy, might not yours.

If you have units that aren't being equipped with anything, I would definitely invest with some type of weapon or armor even if they are cheap ones.

The attack ratings of both weapons and armor help the damage done to the boss. As weapons tend to have higher attack ratings they probably give you more 'bang for your buck', that said I haven't looked carefully.

Well I am done with the event

Beat #15 on Saturday, so I got to enyou my weekend
had to use gems in the last 4 bosses for a total of 240 gems, to get the Hydra
with stats of 175/225 (do not have that great of stat, but it looks very cool in my inventory
also got me 1 rare (undead illutionist)
2 uncommon (vengeful shade)
12 commons which will never see the battlefield

This has been my best event so far. I've killed 10 bosses and have 8 common (2 Immoral enchantress' 16/10, 2 Imp Fiend 23/12 and 4 Wicked Acolyte 25/14), 1 uncommon (veiled spellweaver 60/28) and a rare (heartless succubus 120/100)

The boss events have produced 2 rares and 3 uncommon now w/ at least 10 bosses killed per event. I was probably due, lol.

If you haven't figured out your strategy, you might want to do something like Festivus suggests in the Share a Tip thread. You can do this with, units, weapons and armor. Buy one of each and check your stats beforehand and afterwards. Then decide what you want to use for your strategy. I think a lot depends on if you want short term (beat the next boss) or long term (use the unit, weapon and armor during end game).


Upgrade your bottom level equipment.

Keeping track of equipment is near impossible, so do you know what equipment your army is using at the bottom levels? Check your A&D stats. Then either loot an item or buy one. Check the change in your stats with the A&D of the item. How much did it change?

If you looted a 14 attack item and your attack went up 9, then your lowest weapon in use was a 5 attack.

First check that you have grabbed the last update to KA from the app store. Failing that, delete (your character data is safe) and reload. The events just start for the rest of us.

i got through boss 12 with gold and free hits. three rares (no succubus), two uncommon and 7 common. i have now maxed out what is possible with gold and timing. i am level 97 with a full complement of allies and 54K/48K stats. do you guys drop allies before these events to key the enemy to to a lower level and then add allies to defeat the stronger enemies? does such a strategy work?

The Boss is tagged to your level and not to the number of allies you have. What you may find is that people add allies for these events to get as far as possible and then drop them afterwards in order to stay off the radar of higher stat players.

Maxed out at level 21 boss, a big improvement from the last boss event where I went only up to level 18. I did add +10K to my attack since. Thinking of adding more so I can reach the next boss event even further.

To do it completely from your phone without having to plug it into a computer, the best way is to dl the photobucket app. Do a screen capture (home button + power button), then you can upload the picture directly w/ the photobucket app.

I've added 35 so far today and it's looking like I'm still stuck at the 11th. I got the 11th boss in the last event w/ only 80 allies. I'm level 67 w/ 115 allies and about 15000 attack. All gold hits.

I'm at 162 allies and 19507 attack at the moment, have gotten through 12 bosses at lvl 68. The 12th boss took 12 cash hits, so I'd suggest adding allies and keep pouring gold into attack units.

Thanks for posting link and picture to Cursed Lich. My low level is 21/30 but it is getting real difficult to beat. I may only last another 2 rounds. I'm happy, this is the best event for me yet for my low level. Hydra, 4 rares (all three), 5 uncommons, and 12 commons. Makes up for last boss event of 13 commons and 1 uncommon. Yeah, I added tons of allies to get to the Hydra.

I only made it to 21 without gems. I had come into possession of some iTunes cards and decided to use them on the next KA boss event. So far I have used 1 cure potion each on bosses 22, 23, 24, 2 cure potions on boss 25, and 3 cure potions on boss 26 for a total of 80 gems. Thinking I am giong to need between 22 and 26 more to get to level 30 boss for a total of 30-44 or 300-440 gems. That wont be too bad considering the stats on the scarred hydra and the lich I will receive for boss 30. Wouldn't even consider trying for 50.

I am level 40 22707/16533. So far gold has not been a problem, but it may be by the time I get to boss 30.

I am going to assume you meant $100 instead of 100 gems. I completely understand. I probably would go to 30 everytime if the KA boss events were like the MW ones and stopped at 30. But it would probably cost me over $200 to get to 40 or 50. No thanks.

EDIT: Never mind AHA. I see you got to 25 without gems. The first 5 bosses after I ahd to start using gems only required 8 cure potions (80 gems). That means even if it took you 10 cure potions you could do it for $10. Taht is a steal considering the 900/700 stats of the unit you would get.

Sorry about that AHA, but definitely think it would be worth the $10 as that unit is easily twice or three times as strong as the 950 gem LE units that come out and on par with or better than the top 25 unit in the crate events wihtout the bonus though. That is the only reason I even considered it, because it is a relative bargain, and compared to me it is an even better one for you.

Working on boss 27 as I type this and I am 11 hits in. His health is a little over halfway, but the hits do not take health off uniformly (first hit does nothing and second hit appears to be twice or one and a half of the first hit in terms of removing the red in the bar). I typically will do my first 5 hits and if I had to use 2 cure potions on the previous boss I will just use two right off the bat after the first 5 hits. Then I usually do the next 8 hits over the 2 hours in 27 minute intervals and have a few minutes to spare to finish off the rest if needed. Boss 26 took me 3 cure potions but it was 1 hit and a free one so I did my 5 hits + 6 from 2 cure potions so far. I will probably go ahead and use the 3rd cure potion in 20 minutes and then see if that is enough. If not I will use the final cure potion in the last 3-4 minutes if needed. I'll let you know if it ends up being 3 or 4. So far it seems that they are going in pairs. I'll use a cure potion and only need 1.5 of it or 1 gold and 1 free hit and the next boss I need 3 gold hits from the last cure potion.

GREE must be happy (Kudos to them ... it is a good strategy). The level 30 boss actually got a lot of people thinking about buying gems (even myself - this was by far the most tempting situation I've faced in KA). In the end, I didn't although that is one sweet unit and at Lvl 49, it would probably be my last chance to do so before it really gets too expensive. For me at least, as the breadwinner with a family, I just cannot justify it to myself to spend real money on something like this. But for those of you who have deeper pockets or less responsibilities ... GOOD LUCK!!! That Lich will serve you well and long :)

Footnote to GREE - you may want to tweak the strategy for players at lvl 50 and above. I'm guessing that a lot of them are unwilling to cough up so much to buy gems for so many rounds with the Epic Boss. Lots of people paying US10 an event will probably give a nice fillip to your financials. And again, nice job on the modified event ... the Epic Boss is a lot nicer as an Event than the current style of Box Events.

Well said echus14. Hopefully gree realizes from this event that if people have a realistic chance of winning a prize if the only spend a few gems then more will participate. Having a lvl 15 and 30 prize was a nice incentive for a lot of players. That's the ONLY reason I even participated in this event. No chance for me to ever make it to lvl 40 or 50 but 15 and 30 sure was enticing

Also there should be an option to buy 10 gems for maybe 69p (99c). Having 50 gems as the minimum buy in puts it outside of impulse buy territory for me.

I like the change... but still i don't agree on how the strength of the boss is measured compared to your stats.

Fact that you need a lot of allies to get the highets possible Attack is not logic to me. It would be better that they divide Attack by #allies to get the 'attack density' and increase the boss levels based on needed attack density (maybe with some kind of combination with lvl). That would be imho a must better and honest way of working.

If 1% of people can beat me on my lvl with my allies (150), then it's not logical for me that ppl that just add a lot of allies to increase the Attack stats and have intrinsically a worse army, can fly through the boss levels.

Same reasoning for same players on a different lvl... camping on low levels will leverage your strenght as you easily can defeat the bosses and get in comparison even more stronger then before and next level same and so on...

Someone who levels (and actually plays the game lets say how they designed it), gets punished... as you need to increase your attack a lot to follow the increased boss strength.

Camping is a strategy, a boring one, but a strategy that works nonetheless. Especially for boss events. If you want people to level faster the better way would be to increase the XP gained from bosses because right now it is minimal

One other point on camping is that at low levels even the uncommon items may not be end game items. We may get less items over levels 80 or 100 but they will last longer.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to play the game. There are proven benefits to camping, expecially with the loss of the 10 item crate events. Now if you are a light or non-spender your best bet to be successful at higher levels is to camp. Otherwise you end up in whale territory without a BD10, without high level manors, and without the ability to sustain unvaulted gold. For those who have already leveled too fast to get far in the boss event that sucks. I can only get to 6-7 on my MW account at level 150. That stinks. Especially when you only get 6-7 commons. I adopted the camping streategy because I wish I had done that in MW. It is frustrating that the higher levels, such as my MW account, are punished for being at a high level, but isnt part of a combat game to adapt?

Either way, no point in arguing. Gree does what they want, players be damned.

Would like to get my merchant caravans to 10 as well. The one hour and three hours buildings have made a huge difference in this boss event as I finished this last boss with almost as much gold as I started with

I half agree with you. Camping at Lvl8 forever is kinda pointless but leveling slowly is the way to go for those with shallow pockets like myself

I have periods of camping to build and periods of levelling and it's working ok for me

Hopefully by the time I hit whale territory I won't be fathoms out of my depth

I think the event was perfectly pitched at my level - a decent chance to get 15 with no gems and an outside chance at 30 but likely to cost a modest amount of gems and the rich people can fight on to 50.

High level players should be able to have a similar experience so hopefully this will be looked at.

I did the same on boss 26. So I raised my attack about 500 and then next time got him down to what seemed like the same sliver of health. I am a beaten man 😥

I also like how the goatman marauder LE is 9 times more expensive than the 100 gem armor and weapons but is almost 34 times more powerful! Those armor and weapon items are a joke!

I half agree with you. Camping at Lvl8 forever is kinda pointless but leveling slowly is the way to go for those with shallow pockets like myself

I have periods of camping to build and periods of levelling and it's working ok for me

Hopefully by the time I hit whale territory I won't be fathoms out of my depth

If you've spent any significant amount of time camping you probably never will hit whale territory.

Camping is time consuming, boring, you miss out on events (particularly box events), you suffer withdrawal symptoms .... and it is unfortunately becoming increasingly necessary IMHO for free players. And the preceding is not going to change (or if it does, its going to get worse) because, understandably, the business strategy is to entice people to buy gems or gold. So, the best I think that higher players can hope for is that GREE will tweak the Epic Boss Event to allow a LOWER investment (investment ... right!) in gems to get the desired unit. The current bar just seems too high. For lower level players, it seems to be working as wallets start to open ... :)

In the long run, if the game continues to develop in the current way, I expect that there will be little long-term room for free players. Which may or may not fit GREE's business plan, but whatever it is, just enjoy the game for what it is now. After all, the ultimate advantage of a free player is simply this ... you can walk away without any financial loss. As for the time and effort spent on the game (esp if you're camping) ... my advice is, find other interests (ohh ... aren't those my wife and kids? :) ) ... so you don't lose perspective that this is just a game which has zero impact on the player's real life (though in fairness to everyone in GREE, I acknowledge that this is their bread and butter).

I'm lvl79 with about 29k attack and can't even kill boss 10 with those stats.

I could double my stats probably easily as i only have 150 allies, but why... it shouldn't work like that.
Next event i'll max my allies to see how far i get

Maxed out to 160 members and just finished boss 15 with 21k+ attack just by purchasing 400 odd necromancers and 50 astral bows and leaving a lot of room for improvement on next event.
Not going for 30 for this event but maybe next assuming its the same format provided I can get wizard's spire upgraded to level 10.

Thanks. In retrospect should have just bought the necromancers only as it should be enough to finish boss 15.
With astral bows it took 6 cash hits so without I can't imagine it going to 13.

Trying to level all maps to level 5. At eagle peak no monsters showing on the map. Anyone have the same problem?

I'm trying boss 16. I leveled when I killed boss 15 so I'm at 71 now. It seems like my attack against the boss was always above my listed attack before now. It's below now though. My listed attack is about 26k. My gold attack on the boss now is just under 25k. I'll be extremely lucky to get this boss. It doesn't look like I'm going to make it. I'm pretty sure that on boss 15 at level 70 I had an in game attack around 24k and my attack on the boss was about 24.5k. It looks like I'll be able to hit this boss for about 325,000. Hopefully I'll be able to post I actually killed him in about an hour and a half.

Edit: I wasn't able to kill #16. I added alliance members (199 now) and my listed attack is 26323. That does 25139 damage to the boss per hit. Whatever changed between leveling up from 70 to 71 or w/ this new update today stinks. You'd think adding 2k+ to my listed attack would add more than 6-700 attack on the boss. I added an ally and some additional attack in the last 2 hours but it looks like boss 16 has just over 325,000 HP. I just blew 16.5k gold. The sad thing is I'll probably try wasting 16k again tomorrow hoping for a different result. I could use a couple allies by morning to see if that gets me one more prize - I just hope it's worth the 33k it'll have cost me.
