View Full Version : An idea of how many gems to reach top 50 and 250

I have spent 800 gems and got to 19 compasses only using 20 gems every hour on 100% chance, no timer reset, and am in top 250 by 4 compasses. I have a buddy that did both at around 40 compasses, and he said it took about 4,000 gems sitting in top 50.......

Back when the event was for 50 and 500, I bought a Chest of gems (650) that got me to 350th place earning me a price. I'm guessing that a chest of gems will not be enough to get to the top 250. A mountain should.

Never really went for the top 50 so I wouldn't know, but it looks like your friend with 4000 gems is going to make it.

At the moment you need 37 compasses for top 50. (Leaders button...)
That means (37 - 19 ) * 20 = 360 gems and no sleep.

Btw 19 compasses x 20 gems is 380 gems and not 800?

magic keys guarantee opens, not compasses though.

so he has spent 800 gems on 40 certain opens, 19 of which are compasses which is actually a good rate.

Right now, event ends in 1d:13h:36m

Rank 50, Fluffy (36), got 131 opens;
Rank 49, Zoron (37) got 119 opens;
Rank 48, BA (38) got 124 opens;

...
Rank 250, Hermitage (15) got 27 opens;

Rank 1, Wildstallion (165) got 594 opens;

So do your math.

How do you know how many boxes they opened?

It's a nice guess, :-). If your name shows up in the leader board, I also can guess your opens.

I call BS. If you were guessing then why would you guess the numbers you did? They aren't consistent at all. I think you're pulling those from somewhere. Again, where are you getting that info from?

Ive seen the stats for some of the top players who've been tracking their opens... his guess isnt too far off.

I suspect its accurate and not a "guess" at all.

Im guessing your all guessing about what each other is guessing and or may or may not know. I do know that I only use the free chance and I got the first guy, 20,000 gold and 500HP whats up, how many boxes did I open? Maybe not 20k but atleast 14k. I was using the Chipolte round up method.

The math…
So the hit-a-compass-rate is about 27,8%. (Booh)
With still 18 to go, that makes 65 opens, for 20 gems = 1300 gems.
Of course you then have to reset the timer also about 60 times.… 2600 gems.

The cost to make the top 50 is roughly $400. Its possible it could cost more, but with 6000 gems you should be in good shape. Its also possible to get by on only 3 mountains of gems by taking advantage of virtually every opportunity to open a box without the cost of resetting the timer and a little good luck. You will still need to reset the timer a few times, but by going without sleep and minimizing those times its possible to save a few dollars.

I just spend the extra $100 and get some sleep. Depending on your luck, you may have a few gems left over to spend elsewhere. I've done it three times and the strategy is simply making the top 50, not getting ridiculous and finishing well up the leaderboard unnecessarily. You gotta love the guy that spends an extra $500 or more just to finish second and get the same prize as I do.

As mentioned, you will need to reset the timer and I suppose the ideal strategy is to try your luck and reset as needed near the end. But I will caution you, if this is the way you play it, be prepared to open 25 boxes in a row to get one or two of what you're looking for. I'm not saying its the norm, but I've went on some sick streaks like that. For that reason I just use the resets as needed along the way to stay close to or just inside the top 50. Not as much sweating at the end that way and I can't see where it costs you any more.

Well I ended up with 25 compasses and just a little under 60 box opens/attemps. 40 gem opens the rest cash, was hitting 50% sucessful with gems and 25% sucessful with cash!!! Did alot better on this event, but I have an awsome strategy that I don't want to share, cause then more players will use it and I dont want to spend more than I have too!! I placed 203rd. 800 gems no resets. I got the iTunes cards on sale and bought gems on sale, had just over 900 gems for $48 taxes in!!
