In the menu that is shown when you open the game it says that beating the Epic Boss (Eddie Sato) 50 times will win you the Ancestral Blade.

In the goal menu it says that beating Eddie Sato 30 times will reward me with the Ancestral Blade.

Its the 30 same with MW and KA... there was an boss event in MW that had the same issue where on the splash page it showed 50 but need to only kill the boss 30X.

Look at the leaderboard - some players achieve collecting more than 200 items. Obviously this is only possible using gold to open the box and gold to reset the timer and even to reset your energy since you have to find the 200 crates first, and quite a few might give you money or respect instead of the item.
That means you easily spend some 1000 gold on a single event. For less then 50€ you can buy a full version of a PC, mac or video game. Who would spend hundreds of Euros in a iPhone game????
