How it works:



Players will earn lockboxes by fighting enemies throughout the game (PVE), and by attacking rivals that already possess unopened lockboxes (PVP). A player can hold an unlimited number of lockboxes.



Tapping on the event icon in the lower left corner of the screen will open the event page, showing the following:

A: Link to the leaderboard and event info

B: Current number of gems and the amount of gems to reach the top X

C: Time until event ends

D: Event progression prizes and how many gems are required

E/F: Top X/Y prizes

G: Current number of lockboxes

H: Lockbox opening methods and their costs



Each time you open a lockbox there is a chance you will receive an item, a gem, currency, or nothing at all. Opening a lockbox using gold/gems completely removes the chance to get nothing.



Event Rewarding:


At the end of the event, the amount of players and gems they accumulated will be calculated, and the top X will receive the associated award. The player will receive an end of event popup (displayed upon first login if not in-game) displaying what they’ve won.

Well this just takes it to a whole different (ridiculous) level. The crate events were like the only really fun part to this game and it's gone. At least in those, free players and light-medium gold players had a chance. Only the super rich or super crazy will get a shot at a prize now. This blows :(

That is you try alot and are very lucky, in this KA event I am at top 250 using free/gold options
in another event I got stuck at 14 on day 2 and stay there until the end, even did 2 days if OT and did not get #15

What I hate with events like this is that almost everyone is merely collecting on behalf of the big guys. I've had a 300K player empty a full stamina clip on me before and take 6 or 7 items. And there's not a damn thing I can do about it. Sigh...

I think Funzio had to change the format of the events to the new auction-based format. Their parent company Gree is being investigated by Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency because the original event format is likely in violation of Japan's consumer law. The cost of the news of this investigation was a 23% drop in Gree's stock price. The issue: lack of disclosure on the true odds of winning the final prize. Sound familiar?

I think Gree/Funzio wanted to be proactive in the US market and nip this potential problem in the bud before the US Consumer Protection Agency took notice. I'm willing to bet this change is driven entirely by the legal department and not by marketing. Therefore, no amount of boycotting or complaining is going to reverse this decision. Embrace it, my peeps.

These leaderboard events are the eipitome of alienating the masses and death to the game platform.

Well I wanted to camp and this is basically like not haviong and event anyway... I only ever bother with free opens any more in KA/CC I might get 5 rarely 10. BUt no longer care at all...

However I need gold... clealry I have massive cas glitch. First I lost in one week over 600 valor units to one players raids... now Hand Of God (Lvl130 340 ish allies) raid me 2-3 times a day... heres my cas in last 20 minutes...

4 Military Ambulances (low), 1 global hawk (Med), 1 KC-135 bomber (med), 1 Amphibious Hover (Very low) 1 Stike Egale (low), 1 Elite ops heli (low), 1 Oil Aircraft carrier (Low) all the you lost threads end in .... but I can't roll them up in tyhe news feed any more??/ so who knows whats after my ...'s

This was a light bit of damage as well... normally I lose from each of his bursts... 15-20 units... as a defender....

My defense 64k His attack... 51k boosted.. I blew up his lvl 9 ground boost and his level 8 air boost... went back to my base went back to his base and his stats dropped to low 40's as in 42k so given every few hours I lose 15-20 units defending I imagine all my stuff will be wiped out again in a few more days... MAdback attacked me for 2 weeks and I lost over 1000 units. So guess there is a 'negative' cas glitch to? So I will be gold all the way from now on, no point even having unit buildings, might just sell them up and build more IPH for big boss events... assuming they come back.

Is this now available somewhere? I've seen a bunch of anecdotal info about the odds of reaching 10, but nothing concrete.

I suspect that Funzio may have copied this idea from Gree when they launched. You can find other articles that describe the Gree events in Japan, and they sound identical to the 10 item events.

When I read it (and I did so quickly) I thought it was saying the gocha stuff was only available using real money and was essentially an auction, buy enough pulls of the lever, you might win a bigger and better prize, whereas the part I quoted seemed to indicate that if it was possible, although maybe less likely, to obtain the same rewards without real money it was not gocha and was not a problem. I may be wrong. I read it quickly and havent read a lot about the whole topic

You're dead on with your point about quarterly numbers. I've been through two IPOs and nothing changes a company's culture and priorities faster than having to face Wall Street analysts.

Point #1: I was trying to state that they could point to internal documentation of consistent "fairness" or simply start posting them for the players. THe odds are not currently available that I am aware.

Completely disappointed in this lame leader board. The prizes are too weak up to 15 items, to even waste a cash open on. Unless you commit to a top 25 gold chase then the entire event is pointless.

Good luck to those 500 out of 1.5 million players participating in this event.

Note to Gree - make the events enjoyable for more players and you will ultimately make more profits and over an extended period of time. Sucking out the minority of very high spenders may look good on a short sighted spread sheet, but it is folly that will kill the shelf life of this game.

I only started playing KA when the events are the way they are now. I guess I was just used to them being that way. At any rate, this format sucks for MW, and I'm not thrilled about it at all.

I myself going camping and to a couple of lakes here in BC, close to Kelowna, thus I will try to get together with Tate (he has been very busy with his home renos)

for events in MW I am only seeking the #9 as for 10 the bonus were lame, and not with the new AUCTIONS will just try for 2 free units in a casual basis (might not even try after tomorow, since I do not think I will have wifi or internet where I am going)

in KA I am doing much better for the past 2 events
in the prior I got #24 all with cash, so I use gem to get the #25 and be in the top 250 (used about 200 gems, so I guess they were well spend)

for the current event I am doing AWESOME, currently sitting at 27 scarabs, ALL using free/medium options and the top 250 is at 23, so I am well into the top 250 :)

Do not get "lost" for too long

PS: I will be off the grid until Sep-10, since after my week vacation, have to fly overseas (work related) and mwill not have much time to post (but will be lurking as much as possible and saying hi)

2 - AUCTIONS are for gold spenders
3 - Boss events - usually end within 24 hours for 97% of the players

I didnt bother to do pve to get the box this time as to boycott it. on one occasion when I got one from retaliating an attack from someone; I could not open it with free hand after 3 attempts. So this event is getting a lot harder. More reason to enjoy the fresh air outside for me after 2 months of intense play.
