This can go either way.. I got 3 elixirs with my first 3 gold options. I like to think they are rewarding me for getting to #24 helms the last time round.

Of course, reality sunk in for the next 2 tries.

Keep trying, people. I like the boss event more, but at least this 'auction' event I get more useful units than the boss event. I am the exception not the rule though.

Looking at the leaderboard, and after the last experience of try after try of sorries, I've been using mainly rusty knife. So far 2 elixirs - 1 from gold and one from rusty, from about 8 tries. Look at the brilliant planning. Olympic weekend, 2 events running in parallel, most people are probably at the limit of their non-gem boss ability, there's 20% off purchases AND if the box event is as stingy on opens as before .... The temptation to make a purchase ....

The refresh button never seems to work. Funzio's server updates it on its own. Just go by the MSG at the top telling you yer in, then next time it updates you should show up if yer not on the bubble and get bumped down.

The health regeneration bonus on the top 50 and top 1 unit is only useful for the boss event, and leaving aside its underwhelming nature for 100+'s the common and uncommon rewards from that event are useless if you are running (or heading toward) an all-dragon army, which is starting to become more common among whales. So for a fair number of people they would value them as simply big, expensive units. That and the continuing rapid turnaround on these auctions would explain some differences on the leaderboard.

That, and possibly a wish to spread the groupies.

Ok - 3 opens out of 22 attempts. Now how can this be fair? Now I am not going to argue with those who are going to come back and say 'well it is fair as there is a 50/50 chance of the box etc either being opened or remain closed' - I understand that.

However, if you look at the laws of probability, there is no way that this can happen. If you sit in a casino and watch the roulette wheel (ignoring the greens) it will either turn out to be red or black and these will generally occur on a fairly even basis 50% red and 50% black. So out of 22 attempts you would generally get 11 black and 11 red. The same goes for flipping a coin. I have just tried this to prove a point to myself and (without cheating!) I was not able to end up with 3 heads (which I named Open) and 19 tails (which I named Closed). It just wasnt possible.

This is why, I believe that there may be something wrong with the algorithms used - this level of probability should not exist.

If I am wrong, and someone can show that I am, I will accept it but, until this is proved, I stand by my arguement.

Yep - gold option all the way! The last event I made 103 attempts so 206k gold! I can understand the chances of receiving the helm, elixir etc would decrease the more you get but come on at least sort out the opening rates - even if it is for 50 Honor. At least it is something!

Just got the forest golem all with rusty knives. Im totally a convert. I know im not going to win but i still can walk away with a small token guy for free. This way I still get some swag, I dont spend 200k lol and im not stressed out. Ridiculous sorry streak as always but this time it's even more frustrating. Used a pile of gems on my game and reached my 5 elixirs.....bunch of sorrys after that using middle option....then my buddy who uses rusty knife has already overtaken me with 6 elixirs. Just like in Vegas, the house (Funzio/GREE) always wins.

I occasionally use the gold option if I have the extra gold to spare (often need it for a new 10,000 or more weapon or armor to kill a new enemy type, or upgrade a building--always a priority over these events), but I too have gone to using the free option about half the time.

I spent a buttload of gems on my first event and got the Doom Elemental (still my strongest unit), but after realizing the decreasing chance of getting a vial the more you get (even when spending $2 per open), I switched to the gold option. After 3 more events of using that medium "fair" chance and usually only getting the first unit or two (5 and 10), I've decided the Rusty Knife is the way to go. I'll take the free mediocre units and be happy with them, and let the gem spenders get the top, the 50, and the 250 prizes. They're just not worth the cost, especially when it's also based on chance in terms of ranking on the leaderboard. It's far more logical to spend whatever gems I do buy on guaranteed indestructible units. And what gold I used to spend on the medium option on moderate to low casualty chance units.

I must admit that I getting just a little bored with KA. Reckon its all the camping that is necessary. I want to do the maps, but have to hold off. I can't imagine that many people are buying gems to pay for upgrading so it should not hurt their bottom line.

You know, I wish GREE would rethink their strategy for these box events. If they made the chances more reasonable to get the first 4-5 smaller units (based on effort rather than spending), and this gave players a chance to "fight/bid" for the top 250/top 50 prizes, then it may actually increase gem purchases. I don't think it will move myself personally (skinflint that I am :) ) but if I did buy gems, it would to at least compete for the top 250 prize and not one of the lower ones. Just my opinion.

Agreed. If there were plenty of elixirs but just difficult to get the box open, then maybe use your gems if you really want to ... but this does not seem to be the case in this event based on the feedback so far. 25HP for 20/40 Gems must really suck!

WS does not really need the bonus for the boss events
He is just happy to be on top 50 and let his friend have a chance at winning (which Tony will for sure win) only 22 hours left and he has 81 elixirs more than Cocktail whom is in 2nd place

Actually, I do NOT mind the lack of elixirs. You might have seen my previous posts that this was one way to revamp the game, BUT that was also SUBJECT TO the box being able to be opened everytime (without gems). Basically, its a pure lucky draw on what you get and the "auction" element is confined to resetting the timer only by using gems. It just gets rid of this "sorry, sorry, sorry" irritation.

You can definitely be successful in OT. I went from 10 to 20 vials of hellfire, getting all 4 units and went from 14 to 20 in the event with the avenging spirit for unit #4. Other events have been less successful or I crashed. Good luck - I am stuck at 9 right now. Will probably go for 10, maybe 15 in OT.

If we assume you try to open 20 times per day and are able to open 5 of them, It will take you a few days if not the whole week to open 25+ boxes and hope you will get 1 elixir every 5 opens
then you could really get lucky and get elixir in less time

Once again this is not designed for regular players but for people who pay, as this third round that I've been apart of has clearly stated.

I look at it this way, for what you pay and what you get, we are all being stooged and the sooner players of this game realize we're being ripped off big time the more we need to speak with our actions and send a message to GREE that we're not all mindless gamers here.

Personally I found that my percentage of opening boxes and receiving an elixir this time round drooped since my last three games. Each time I had to use more gems. This tells me they are making it harder for players who just use the middle (gold) and free (knife) options.

First round I played I only used 60 gems and received 3 viles which got me a total of 28 and I made top 250.
Second round, I used 280 gems and received 3 where 11 in a row opens gave me gold or XP. I was pissed! Made top 250 with a total of 32.
Third round (this one) I only received 15 without gem use, opening 16 a day on average with an average of 5 resets a day. I Managed to get to 27 using 560 gems.

More and more they will make it difficult for us to play without spending your real cash. We'll see next round if it gets worse. I'm over using cash so I'll stick to using the others next time and hopefully I'll at least get some of the early 5, 10 & 15 units.

That is pretty slim considering spectra is level >130. The only way for spectra to be knocked out is if the bottom limit is 26 and that they froze the leaderboard with 30minutes left, meaning even if you refresh when the event has ended, it still shows you the leaderboard with 30minutes left.

First round I played I only used 60 gems and received 3 viles which got me a total of 28 and I made top 250.
Second round, I used 280 gems and received 3 where 11 in a row opens gave me gold or XP. I was pissed! Made top 250 with a total of 32.
Third round (this one) I only received 15 without gem use, opening 16 a day on average with an average of 5 resets a day. I Managed to get to 27 using 560 gems.

More and more they will make it difficult for us to play without spending your real cash. We'll see next round if it gets worse. I'm over using cash so I'll stick to using the others next time and hopefully I'll at least get some of the early 5, 10 & 15 units.


The only way they can not award you is if there was more than one person on position 250, in which case I understand it's the player with the highest level who wins.

That is pretty slim considering spectra is level >130. The only way for spectra to be knocked out is if the bottom limit is 26 and that they froze the leaderboard with 30minutes left, meaning even if you refresh when the event has ended, it still shows you the leaderboard with 30minutes left.

You don't have the Arcane Defender huh? for all you know there are people who collect all the time.. but I do agree with you that money collected is the far better indicator.

I meant any event that rewards good play is welcome and IPH even in its imperfection still rewards some good play to some extent as compared to the boss, auction events.No I dint have arcane defender my income was not high enough in 1st IPH event since I was and still only upgrade 12,24 and 48 payout building and they don't increase IPH stat very fast.

Yes maybe these people collect a lot but let's look at these. If you have 2 lvl 10 cottages that's an 2160 IPH boost yet to actually collect that much you would have to collect the cottages 288 times a day! Sorry but I think you would be hard pressed to see anyone even manage 1/3 of those collection a day. The bazaars, farms and merchant caverns are more realistic to collect but still you have to sleep so you will miss atleast a 1/3 of those collection I would think.

Where I have 2 lvl 10 silo's and 2 lvl 10 taverns where I can easily collect the 39600 from them every day no problems but they only give a 1650 IPH boost for all 4 combined. That's 510 less per hour then the 2 lvl 20 cottages yet my actual amount collect will be probably 10X or higher more a day

My only concern is even though you show a pic that says you where in with 1 sec remaining that they will come back and say that the leaderboard was frozen with 1 hour or 30 mibs to go so that pic is invalid cause its only showing the frozen standing and they changed afterwards.

Unless they didnt freeze the leaderboard last night. I'm bot sure as I didn't stay up for it I knew I was safe with 31 but know they have froze them in last hour in previous events

Yeah!!! that would be an awesome event because

it is true that it will cost the players heavy casualties, but also you could get tons of Honor points,
You could find players with unvaulted cash, :)
would make players collect more from their money buildings to replace lost units
the game will become more active during the event

I think it would be just fun!!!

I do not think that really applies, because, I got my 25th elixir when there were only 48 minutes left in the event (I know was less than 1 hours, see the Druit pictures, it shows how much time left in the event)
so if the leaderboard was frozen, then I would not have appeared in the top 250 at that time and I was in the top 250 with 1 second left and also after the event had officially ended as shown in the pics

@CC I know! This one's boost isn't that great. I kept telling myself, watch the next event will have 2 upgrades at once again and you'll be sorry for doing this one! lolThe boost is a decent one since it will give you 1-2 extra boss win each event so that's 1 or 2 extra free units event. I love having it on MW.

My only issue is it's more expensive on KA to get those boost then it is on MW so boost has to be super good for me atleast to go for it and after experiencing the KA boss event left a bad taste in my mouth compared to MWs one
