Nah, Britain gets an awful lot of snow (specially Scotland) compared with many of the other countries that do well and they only really contend for the womens curling in the Winter Olympics.

Countries like Germany, France and Switzerland do a lot better, not because theres no snow but because they have funding all round. Norway is the most successful country in sporting history - and also the country that puts the most money per peron into sporting activity.

In Britain, however, the funding is given mainly to a small section of sports which are very middle/upper class and based in the South - sailing, canoing, cycling, equestrian sports. How many major British cities actually have a public ice arena?

If Britain spent a few quid on some of the sports north of Nottingham they'd be far more competitive in them. Instead they have the only ski resorts in the world that shut because theres 'too much snow'.

I don't think the medal count system way of rating countries is fair. If a country has lots of gold medals but no silver or bronze , and another country has tons of bronze medals, they should not be rated higher.

At the very least they should be rated using maybe a point system, 3 points for gold, 2 for silver etc etc..

I also felt special because i got to see the new Sherlock Homes movie in London! Made it come into life.

London's badminton competetion is no longer elimination series now. They divide players into group at first like soccer and basketball games.
So strategically, you have to lose a match to avoid meeting the best player and that's why they gave up a match in purpose.
