This will by my self-congratulatory bragging thread, where I display my coolness for the world to see, fear, appreciate, hate, mock, demean, or what have you.

In my opening post, I celebrate three things:
1. Gaining 10K defense at level 19.
2. Winning 97.7% of my battles.
3. Remaining a free player to date.

Impressive defense. How did you achieved that? Care to give some advice

If you are going the infantry route a better defensive unit is the Paladin (8/17). It's more expensive than the Centurion (750 compared to 540) but is slightly better on a 'cost per defence point' basis. Most importantly, it has half the casualty rate of the Centurion (0.4% rather than 0.8%). That may not seem like much but in the long run that effectively means it's half the cost!

As a general strategy, I've tried to build two armies -- a defence army made up of high defence low attack units (initially Riflemen, then Paladins, now High Priests), and an attack army (initially Berserkers and Catapults, now Manticores and soon Basilisks). All of these are low casualty rate units. The reason for this is that you take your best attack army into attacks and your best defence army is used for defence. Having units that are half-and-half like Centurions makes it harder to build high stats on both dimensions. Initially it may seem like a cheaper way to build an army but eventually I think the "two army" method will be superior.

Having said all that, your numbers are excellent for a free player at your level. Well done. (but the blue face and clown wig...? Really? :))

I considered the Paladin, but since I'm having such luck with the Centurions, I'm gonna try to stick with them until I can get to HP's. The two army strategy is spendy - I'm having better luck focusing on defense and PvE.

Of course, my dream is an army of steam tanks. I should be there sometime in 2015. :cool:

Quite impressive! Patience and sticking to a game plan is definitely something you've been good at. Not me! Lol! Hate camping or going slowly.

And I too took the defense route early, up until about level 55 or so. Even though not a lot of PvP until later on (PvE, too, was my route), when running across a LOT of people with a LOT of unvaulted cash. One hit - little experience, 9900 gold. 10 hits later, banking 99,000 gold. Couldn't resist!

Ever since reaching the tender age of level 24, I've always known I was destined for great things.

But no matter how hard I tried, no matter how many critters I'd smash or kindoms I'd level, I never seemed to be able to reach the top. It seemed like I was destined to always be second best. One short.

Until one day, my lucky star went out to lunch with my fairy godmother, and as luck would have it, the fates and the winds of change and fortune all smiled on me. I logged in, to find my silos and leatherworkers ready to collect. I collected. It was then I knew - I KNEW - that I was ready to take my place in the world.

I felt good. The fans were cheering me on. CCM came back from his vacation early just to congratulate me. Someone made a google doc spreadsheet with a tab on how to be me. But then I was taken away in vision by the oracle of Kingdom age, who showed me I had still other mountains to climb, other boss monsters to fight, other PvP battles to, well, battle.
