Sorry if this is a really basic question, but do I need to upgrade the Beast Warren to a particular level to have the option of the Breeding Den?

No best I recall breeding den is available at a certain level , just don't recall the level

Nope - you just need to be on the right level to unlock it. You don't even need to build the Beast Warren if you don't want to.

I thought it was 50.

Yep. You need to get to level 50 for it to become available.

The breeding den is real expensive to upgrade. So make sure you have a decent IPH and vault by the time you get it.

Noted with thanks. It seems to offer the best attack unit with a balance between A/D stats and casualty level (Basilisk).

I think Hydra or Dragon is more efficiency.
