Beast vs Machine

What's better overall with casualty rates price and stats? I looked in the beginners guide but didn't see it go over any type of units. And didn't really feel like searching the forums for it

Personally I am loading up with beasts such as wyvern, cave trolls and basilisks with machines being my meat shealds ie seige tower.

I love them both, So I have combined my units

machines:
canons x 200 36/20 a/d (very low casualty rate)
Flaming catapults x 12 36/16 a/d
flaming trebuchet x 24 40/19 a/d


Beast:
Manticores x 369 16/9 a/d (my meatshields)
Gryphons x 138 11/18 a/d
Basilisks x 180 37/21 (very low casualty rate)

Magic
High Priest x 168 11/32

I have all first unit buildings level 10. Right now I like cave trolls and wyverns as my main units and siege towers seem to die off more than my cave trolls and wyverns. But not sure about the high level machine only have 5 of them as of now.
