bosses 1-18 i did not purchase a single unit for the event. my attack remained static except for loot items gained.
boss 19- purchased 50 bio warfare troops raising my attack by 650

upto the 7th boss, taking a few more hits then i remember the other bosses taking but i have much less allies then i had. i think i can beat 20 or so without gold.

last event i started using gold at about lvl 23 or 24 cant remember

Only on number 6 atm. Bosses take something like 7 or 8 hits. Which is like 750K health for me. Don't remember how the health gets higher and higher, but i doubt i'll make it very far, definitely not to 30.

For those who know there going to beat 30. Anne use gold doing so. Either way, how much gold would You's be willing to use to he the grand prize? I've seen in the past people getting it by using just a few hundred gold.

Last time I could not get past 17, 16 was the last one I beat. I am not sure I will make it that far this time. But here is hoping. Oh and most of the units I get never make it to battle, hence why the Common are no better than tree snipers for me, its a shame.

thanks for your input JMC. seems like the boss's health might just be based on your attack stat. if it was based on anything else, you should be killing number 7 with 1 hit.

selfproclaimed- last time i spent 160 gold. i was hoping to do the same this time but it looks like the event has been nerfed. probably going to cost me 300 gold. yea its an awesome unit and worth it to "gold players" but i want to save my gold for future gold buildings

I am level 134 with 474 allies and an attack of 46,743. I'm not quite there yet, but I doubt I'll be able to get past 7 or 8 without gold. About the same as the last event for me.

Manbeast/Bronson, your posts surprises me. I didn't realize how much easier it was for people at lower levers to kill the boss. You said you killed the first bosses in 1 hit using free. I guess that means is it 4-5 times hard for me then. I'm L151 80K stats damage per cash hit:

Boss 1 - 4 hits free
Boss 2 - 2 free + 5 cash
Boss 3 - 7 cash
Boss 4 - Still on (7 cash + 2 more cash hits it looks like)

I made it to 19 last time but had to use 1 reset via tapjoy gold for the last few. It was worth it tI hope for 20 gold to get the rare. Probably won't wast gold this time, have a long time to save for some buildings. Have 19 gold currently. LOL chump change to most but not to me.

I do, I usually wait 1:50 hour to start with a full tank, but still boss #8 took all 13 cash hits, last event I made it to boss 14 with cash options
I have noticed that at the same stats as the prior event I do LESS damange than before, that is BS!!
last boss #30 had over 3 million life points
I am done, THE EVENT STILL HAS SERIOUS BUGS!!!

I cannot say I am happy for the 8 units I got, since THEY ARE ALL $HITTY UNITS, I WILL NEVER USE IN BATTLE, well maybe the experience fighter, but that is it

I'm trying things a little different this time. I'm using free hits and the 13 hit method to see how far it will take me. Last time I did cash hits from the beginning as I figured I had plenty, and I did, but my cash levels stagnated as the boss pays out less than the cost of the hits required to take him down. Now my cash is growing nicely and despite taking longer to get through them, the savings will allow me to drop more money into some extra units while maintaining enough cash for the higher level bosses.

Not a big game changer, but every little bit helps.


****Edit - Some thoughts about adding units to take on the boss.

I just added some commandos to the point that they no longer move my attack score. At first I thought this was a waste, but then I remembered what CCMark said in the FAQ for the first boss event:


...the boss will take health damage based on your level / inventory and the attack type.

Does not say your attack score, but level/inventory and attack type. That with the reports by some that boost buildings had no impact on their damage dealt out, leads me to think if you have units that you take into battle above a commando due to boost, that having extra commandos that normally wouldn't make it into battle in your inventory might still help you in the event.

I'm going to experiment with this after the next boss.

I have seen this on the last event. Makes me want to camp hardcore. Seems like every time you level up the event gets much harder.

Good luck. Hope you figure something out. ccm's posts are always so vague. Idk why it seems he cant elaborate on anything. I do think the boss's health is based, somewhat, on your attack score. Its the only reason that explains why pirates cant beat the boss without gold

I Have bought over 320 Commandos at this point (something i was never planning on buying) and each one i buy adds to my attack score because i have 300 allies i bring to battle and my lowest attack unit is the A10 Warthog that has an attack value of 7 (although these will be phased out at the rate i'm buying commandos)

@ Warfiend: I notice that my damage sometimes fluctuates when i hit the boss. The one thing i would check is when you buy a unit does your attack value on your profile go up?

updated first post- looks like the rare unit i got helped me out a bit. this boss took exactly the same number of hits as the previous one. only had a tiny sliver of health left after 7 attacks.

No, but I had toyed with that idea while considering what CCMark said. I was thinking more like say you have Unit A which is 10 but with a 20 percent boost it's 12. Then you have unit B which is 12 with no boost. For the boss, maybe it ignores boosts and so would ignore unit A in favor of unit B due to the higher unboosted stats. That would potentially allow someone who has a lot of boost to strengthen for the boss by buying cheaper units that normally wouldn't make it into battle for them.

My quick experiment did not yield results that support that though.

If my past experience is any indicator, your attack score on the boss should go up nicely in that scenario. I have to basically buy a minimum of strykers or hover crafts to get a boost at this point, and I get more bang for the buck just buying a B-52 than 3 strykers. So I'm limited to how much I can boost my boss attack.

OTOH, the strength I'm at currently is carrying me along pretty well using free attacks so I can't complain. I'm at Boss 11 and still don't have to spend any cash, let alone gold, to beat him. That will soon change though.

i'm telling you the bosses health must be based on your attack score! thats the only way to explain this crap. i think it might be based on your attack score from the beginning of the event, because making yourself stronger during the event definitely helps, but having strong stats to start with does absolutely nothing.

164 Allies, 24.8 attack density at the moment (16.3k attack w/ boosts). Have a little valor to blow and good income for buying units. My stats are definitely more defense oriented so I'll work on increasing my attack for now.

That is crazy, I am level 141 (soon to be level 142 free health refil yay) with only 40k attack/def and boss 6 took me 8 hits too. Weird

but I am level 139 (up 3 level from last event), started doing 48k damaged, had to buy 40 Droids to increase my damage to 50k, last event I had the same stat and doing 50k damage without having to buy any units

it is official, I am stuck at lv-9 boss, I can only do 650k damage in 13 hits, he has more than that for the looks of the life bar I need 3 more hits, that would be about 800k life points :(

Yes i hit him the full 13 times and then needed a health pack (tapjoy) of those hits needed 3 of them on top for a total of 16 hits with an average attack of 54k per attack and cash attacks none were free.

Im on the 7th boss but can't beat him. I'm only 1 hit away, but that hit is impossible without gold. 103.5K damage per hit, so he's probably got about 1,400,000 health.

Guessing 200K more health per boss for my level range. Much harder than the last event. Level 50 boss only had about 2.8mil health.

I believe that the increase is partially based on the average or median strength of a grouping of players either from level 200 down or those within a certain range of your personal level.

JMC, we are much closer to the "Uber Stat" guys who would be causing a dramatic affect, not on the base figure which is almost certainly tied into your personal stat (so you can get at least one down) but certainly it affects the rate at which the points increase.

Just for the heck of it I plotted the points on a graph and my number 30 would be at least 9 million health based on the rate at which the points have increased:rolleyes:

My number ten this time has 20 times the hit points as number 1, last time I was probably at level 120 and his points did not reach this value until around Elite number 27.

If there is a "next event" of this type then unless something gets changed I would expect to get to well less than ten.

Weren't some of the heavy gold spenders unable to get far without spending gold on the event itself? I think that whatever the boss strength is calculated off, it surely expects you to have a strong density at max allies. That's easy to do at low levels, or make up th gap with gold units, but it gets real tough for the later levels.

I sure wish they listened to our complaints and made it a tad easier, goes to show that our feedback is worthless.

My thought exactly, im lev 96 and its harder for me tho with higher stat. Iguess my raw stat ( i believe thats how much damage per hit vs the boss) is much lower than urs.

I went for my OR5 I'm not gonna completely change my strategy in the hope of winning one event.

And thank the lord i didn't. I have won 4 rares from the boss and opened 4 lots of 3x crates for another 2 rares and 3 uncommons and still I get stuck on boss 13 even tho my stats have gone up by over 500 on both attack and defence. Had to have 14 hits to kill him but I lvled up.

I have 60 gold left over so either 3 medpacks and hope for another rare or do I get one final crate with the nerfed rare rate????

I figure, with 100xp to go, might as well do it for a shot at an indestructible, as it would have happened anyway when I went looking for boxes. The uncommon boat was a nice reward for it too.

i think you'd be able to beat 3 bosses with 60 gold. 1 med pack = 5 more hits! thats like buying 3 crates man. your odds of getting a rare are much better beating 3 bosses than buying 1 crate.

nothing definitive. Most of the people who make it far in the event have max allies. i believe the boss base health value is based on your level and attack score at the beginning of the event. during the event, the bosses health can be tweaked by adding/removing allies. If the allies you add contribute 60 attack points each, i believe they will definitely help you in the event. 20 points each- probably going to hurt you.


Just Beat boss 19 with 13 hits. Looks like gold from here on out, haven't decide if I'll use it or not though. For reference I made it to boss 26 last time before using gold and I was only a game level below where I'm at now.

Seriously debating whether to stop and save it for a future air unit, but if the boss strength keeps going up I doubt I'll buy more gold. Just finished boss #15 in 9 hits using cash . I got a busy weekend , I might run out of time . Trying to get to #20 without gold ...which I think I can but time is not on my side . Might need to use gold earlier than I should just to finish.

I wasn't planning on buying anymore gold because I'm still upset about he double currency event.. But this top unit has some ridiculous stats and your right, I think it could be attainable with a few hundred gold which is really good. So I just might give in

DEPENDS on how many you have killed with the cash option
I could barely killed #10 because I leveled up, it took all 18 free hits (first 3, waited 1 minuted, then 2, then level up for a refill, repeated for 5 more hits, the 2 hits every 27 minutes = 18 hits)
I do 51k dmage each hit, so boss #10 had 918,000 life points.
for me to kill the other 20 would probably need about like JMC said, about 3000 gold bars or $200 real cash
IT IS NOT WORTH PAYING $200 FOR SOME FANCY PIXELS
Also the prize drop is $HITTY, 9 commons and 1 uncommon, last event I got 6 rares, and by the time I hit boss #10 I had 2 rares then

This prediction in retrospect was overly optimistic. Last time I was able to go 5 levels before adding a 2nd medkit, this time it's 3 levels. #21 required 2. That projects out to needing 5 at level 30 alone, and 30 more on top of the 5 I already used. Not worth it when I could just buy a comparable LE, and make it an air unit related to my boost. Add to that the loot drops are worse this time (as others have pointed out), and I have stuff to do this weekend other than being tied to this game.

Good luck to the rest of you. If they come up with an air unit as the grand prize I might consider going through it again, though it is a massive time sink.

I just got beat by a boss, refused to buy a med pack. I was really close, I thought I had him. This event was a lot tougher and stingier than the last event, so I am not sure how much of my Tapjoy gold I am willing to spend.

But I have a question. If you get beat does the boss keep the same stats for the next go around, or do the bosses stats go up. I know I have to increase my firepower anyway, to beat him the next round, but was wondering if I had to as well compensate for a stronger boss, even though I am essentially re-fighting the same level of boss.

I did not use one single Gold bar on the last boss event and I was at full allies on the last one my attack was around 7500 and I didn't have any problems beating him (Shamba) but for this one I went to 100 allies..around 6100 Attack and I thought it was my attack so I went to full allies again and kept struggling so I gave up on it at LVL 14.

I went ahead and dropped 40 gold and used another level up to beat 17-19, got two uncommon air and a common infantry(the best common in this event IMO). I had 1 hit left but I fear if I do one more, the boss stats would jump enough to require another medkit. no way I'm going to drop 40 gold and risk the commons at my bracket.

I estimate I would need 600 gold to finish the boss from here. I'm currently at 373. The last unit would be well worth it but I told myself I won't spend this itunes card on this game till they make the bear work. If they announce a gold sale soon, I'm going to be tortured.

So as of now, I'm finishing with 5 uncommons, 40 gold spent, and still more gold on hand than I finished the last event with. Totally worth it.

For the record, for those considering dumping allies/valor into this, I'm sitting on 50+ ally requests and 60k+ valor, and I'm not going to blow it all to maybe get one or two more levels. It's tempting, because I did do that last time, but the boss seemed to get relatively stronger too. No one's really figured out all the mechanics of this one yet, so YMMV.

At the end of the day, the main driver for me to get out is I have too much to do. Add on a 7 1/2 months preggers wife and...well, if you've been there, you know. ;)

I do too WP once I get to the bosses that take more than about 9 hits. With less than 20 minutes (more like 16 I guess) of leeway to get all 13 non-gold hits in, I can't depend on my internal clock to remember often enough.

Boss 23 was my max no gold boss. Still 6 to go for the big one. At least my health is now full with this medkit. Saved myself from 100 minutes frustration time.

It depends on how much energy the boss has left after hit 10. Perhaps i can better use a mega attack. It will save some cash. Not sure how much damage it will give. It must be enough to finish the boss.

I could only defeat 8 bosses with cash and that includes a level up attack so I have stopped. Last event I got all the way to 17 with cash and then started using gold and made it all the way to 30. Also, I had much better drops on the last event. This time I got all common with one uncommon for the 8 defeats. I hope they loosen up a little on these events because they are fun. For me the goal window was also not populated with the defeat general Shenk mission. But doing PVE it still triggered a new mission. The most important one. Now on my final level 30 mission so far used 19 hits ( 2 med packs used in the beginning already, to keep endplay stress to a minimum)

Just an FYI for the rest of you. I didn't have to start using med kits until boss 24 due to timely level ups. I ended up using 160 gold from 24-30 and I leveled 5 times. Last boss took 3 med kits.

I managed to kill boss 14 thanks to a timely level up but boss 15 is proving just out of reach despite adding allies ang pouring 15k valor into SFs and $7 million into commandos and bio warfare troops. I made it to level 24 by using the 13 hit method that, if I'm not mistaking, you posted previously. (thanks by the way) i got busy with the family after that and made a few mistakes that probably cost me two med packs. I waisted a level up and closed out instead of attacking the general again while having that tiny bit of life left. You wouldnt have thought that one hit would have mattered but with only a couple of minutes left it did. Rookie mistakes. I found adding units to be futile as I am already heavy in my attack for my level. I spent close to 10 mil and didn't raise it a 1000. Not to rub salt on the wound, but I got 3 of the coast bomber 108/66. I'm UK, so I really enjoyed this event. I know that some people find the boss events to suck, but I was a free player up till these 2 events. I think it got a whole new set of players to spend money. Kudos to Funzio.
