How are you guys doing with your open rates? I was inside the top 500 with 8 vials yesterday. Nearly 24 hours and some 16-18 attempts later im still on 8. All but two have been sorries. Got some money and honour.
I was hoping rates would be a little better for this, as you need to have 20 vials to get the fourth prize!

I also wonder if they're applying the diminishing return equation seen in the other events? Mind you I'm not even halfway through.

Time will tell.Same as you, 8 vials and I lost the count of how many sorries. Like you I was top 500. But I was feeling that would be hard to be there for too long if the rate was the same as other events. 20 became a distant dream...lol.

I think with the leader board in place, and the server-side programming that comes with that and the distribution of vials, it would take a hacker to be able to dupe Funzio by continuing to play OT in this event and expect to get into the #500 or #50 when they weren't.

And even then Funzio would be able to tell.

Once the event ends, I'm sure they will have the statistics they need, make notes, document, and end off. Anyone that manages to get more will not get credited.

These events are costly, but if you look at the stats of the rewards they are not too bad. The 5 vial one is 31/37. The best weapon you can purchase is either 21/14 or 17/18 and they cost 20k and 18k each. So since the rewards are indestructible you can compare their value to the weapons. Now looking at the stats, I think its justifiable that you are paying 30k+ to get it. Not to mention as you get more vials, you pay approximately the same amount but for even more powerful units. So in the long run, this is actually a really good deal.

I have 3 viles now! Wow. This event is better than the last two As far as the prizes. yet it's way more difficult for me to get anything! I have 3 opens and 3 viles. The other 40 are sorrys. I know it's worth a pretty penny for an indestructible unit with good stats. But if things keep going like they are I'll end up with one unit that'll cost me 60k!! I'm starting to hope, rather than dread, the likelihood that Funzio is going to bring this new type of event over to Crime City because it'll completely curb my impulsiveness to buy gold to improve my odds of getting ten event items. I have absolutely no interest in competing against players who throw hundreds or thousands of dollars at this game to win an event so there'll be no impulsive gold buying for me, which is kind of a relief because it's so so tempting when I'm sitting on #9! :D


Edit: Oh and my KA camper account is sitting at #3, won't be going much higher with all the sorries I'm getting.

I'm curious if the success rate declines as you acquire more vials like it did in the original box quests. If it does, the people at the top of the list are going to have to spend even more gold than they already are to stay ahead. And the people just outside of the top 50 will feel like they have a chance to make the list since their success rate is slightly better (and they'll also spend more gold...) If I can get 10 vials, I'd be happy. Getting the Terran Elemental means one less imp to buy to protect an HP.

I think the odds have changed too much especially now that the number of vials between each level has increased. I have now resigned myself to not even reaching 10.

I know that Gree has forked out a fourtune to purchase Funzio but please don't let everything be dominated by those who can afford massive gem purchases otherwise it will loose its attraction very quickly.

PS: This is not a rant at those who can afford gems - fair play to those that can - but at the possible strategy of Funzio.

If it shows up but is "installed" already in the app store then it should come back to reinstall and maybe trigger the update.

Try delete and turn off the idevice before you search for KA in iTunes. That did the trick for me last time round.

That happened to me and exactly why I started this event almost a day late. Just go to AppStore, press the "Purchased" tab at the bottom and scroll through all the apps you have bought (installed or not you should find it there) and if it IS already installed, you will be able to update it. You can try to delete it first if you want. It doesn't matter; it will still show in your Purchased tab. Anyway I have 9 vials (medium options) with >22 attempts per day

The odds have definitely changed. I've had around 8 sorry using middle option. Bought a bag of gems, but only giving Honor and gold. I mean I don't mind getting honors and gold but a low "50" honors and just "4000" gold is just annoying. So far...only got 1 vials using gems.

See, I think that's where Gree/Funzio is going wrong... I'd be tempted to spend a reasonable amount (say £20) fairly regularly if I thought I'd have a decent chance of getting a super-duper prize (like the Top 50 one) at an attractive discount to equivalent "store prices".

Imho, Gree should return to the previous format where prizes are dependent on collecting the requisite amount of items, while improving the odds. No way I'm chucking any dough at all in what is effectively a bidding war situation if I'm not even sure I can even make the Top 500.

Got my 12th vial today and entered the top 500.

Im guessing my sorry rate has been lower then 50% but i got viles enough and perhaps only 5 or 6 times honor or gold. Sorry i didnt make notes of how often i opened a box nor how often i got what item. Must be luck, in the previous actions i got up to 9 gems/rings both but never a big unit. First even i spend time at night waking up, second event i was more relaxed and got the same. Now i check every hours during the day but sleep well at night and if im somewhere else or in meetings then oh well i check later.

However im still happy with this contest for getting free indestructable units, ofcoarse its made to make income for funzio and ofcoarse gem players are favorite to top 50 and top 500. We free players can come only a little nearby, im still happy with my smaller indestructable units though and perhaps a chance for the top500 one, but im betting im dropping out the top 500 again soon :)

Funny thing, the first box I opened after this, using the middle option, it opened and dropped a Vial. So I got ten but don’t think I will make the top 500 even with the gem purchase. Can’t be to upset though, got a healthy chunk of cash and a second indestructible unit. It was fun to try but I don’t think I’ll buy gems again.

I used middle option and got to 3 vials and a few 50 honors have opened 10 with gems now and got 7 more vials and some big gold payouts... gem open now....... 6000 gold again... out of gems... middle option for last day :(

So far i only used the middle option, no cash invested what so ever.
Got my 12th vial today and entered the top 500.

Im guessing my sorry rate has been lower then 50% but i got viles enough and perhaps only 5 or 6 times honor or gold. Sorry i didnt make notes of how often i opened a box nor how often i got what item. Must be luck, in the previous actions i got up to 9 gems/rings both but never a big unit. First even i spend time at night waking up, second event i was more relaxed and got the same. Now i check every hours during the day but sleep well at night and if im somewhere else or in meetings then oh well i check later.

However im still happy with this contest for getting free indestructable units, ofcoarse its made to make income for funzio and ofcoarse gem players are favorite to top 50 and top 500. We free players can come only a little nearby, im still happy with my smaller indestructable units though and perhaps a chance for the top500 one, but im betting im dropping out the top 500 again soon :)

Gone.. 13 now... but I'm happy, spent 220 gems over 50,000 gold, 300 honor and two indestructible probably worth about 110 gems anyway... if I am lucky and get to 15 with free that's at least a 100 + gem unit and that will mean breaking even (I know you can get 3 crates for 175 and maybe do better but this is the same a 2 uncommon and a common so I'm happy with effort) I am inclined to get another 650 gems and go for it because the top 500 item is worth more than that as a gem item and the 2% to whatever is an advantage you can't get on normal LE items.

BTW, not meaning this to sound like whining. Practicalities of opening boxes in this event seem to suggest its pretty difficult to crack 10 w/o GEMs. With the low payout of 2ndary prizes (mostly 4k gold) it seems "investing" 2.2k per try is a poor investment.

Sounds like Funzio has heard the cries of the (less fortunate) gem players who didn't get to 10 in previous events despite all the $$$ spent and created an event that will truly separate the haves (Gemmers) from the have-nots (Free'ers). Glad to see Funzio address a real problem... not so happy with the fact that it will further the divide between the two... Guess I'll go back and spend more time with my wife and kids... Nahh, back to Call of Duty - DLC maps only cost me $15, stay on my account forever & my PS3 account costs me $0... A MUCH better value IMHO...

The level of spending of some players has shocked me this event. I've used my last 400 gems on this event and still am only on 12 (admittedly I have been at work 9-5, so have limited 'opening time'. I always knew people spent thousands of £/$ on this game, but the people with nearly 70 boxes with a day and a half to go must have spent hundreds on this event alone. I have spent around £150 on this game and I'm already regretting it. Sure I've got a nice boost from the money buildings, but the additional units stats I've gained from crates is equal to one days income on High Priests etc. As an above poster mentioned, I spent £24 on the 2 DLC packs for Cod and personally think that was a much better investment. My issue with this game is you don't gain enough of an advantage from paying real money without spending huge sums.

My gem buying days are over but Im going to continue playing, and the way Im thinking of it is that I've spent £150 which has supported the developers of a game I enjoy playing.

I recommend you read this thread from the MW forum. It contains a strategy from one of my allys (McDoc)
It tells you how to compete in the standard events. Though it is based on using gold, the theories can be applied for use as a free player.
It is much more beneficial to spend your gold/gems in the first 24 hours of an event, in order to get maximum effect.

Yesterday, I got 12 sorries in a row with gold openings.

Last time I posted I was complaining of getting sorrys so many times in a row. Then yesterday, everytime I press the middle option it gave me something. cheers! I just got my 10th vial, 2 days after I almost gave up. Now, I can conclude this event without regret.

2 days ago, I stopped opening with gold after 12 successive losing attempts and had 7 then. Then I used the free option to open 15 boxes, and I got two. Then resumed to gold opening, first one is 6k gold, second is my dear 10th.

Four more opening to go, will try back rusty knife.

This is my 3rd day playing so it's all good, but this event was umm... a blatant maneuver to unveil those with no sense at all. Job well done funzio. For some reason the event stays on until you reset your game. In the box were it states the time left in the event it just says 'Event ends SOON'

I did not intend to spend the amount I spent. After 4500 gems I figured that would be enough. Then I was 10 vials out of 50th. Then I figured I was in to deep so in went another 3000 gems. Thats were I am at now. With 700 gems left and ten boxes to open. And 1.5 hours to go. And only in the top 40.

I also find it all to convenient that the leader boards have not updated in over an hour.
Even at spending gems to upgrade my base it would not have gone far. I'm level 77 with my Vault maxed out at 300,000.

The amount of gems to upgrade each building is around 200 per upgrade.

Now I have 74 vials and 50th is at 72 and my name is not on the leader board.

EDIT: I found tapping the "refresh" button is not really reliable. It does it's whole "reload" thing, but doesn't always reload.

Be it my timing has been perfect with their updates of the leader board or my just luck happening, pushing and holding the refresh button for about 3 or more seconds seems to update the board.

Good luck! I think at this point you should stay in it until you get to at the very least 80 vials, if not clearing 81 to be on the safe side. This is way more crazy than I estimated. Four days ago, I estimated al least 2000 gems to be in top 50. Now seems to be way more than that. If you spent that many gems, close to 7000, this could be spent in much better way and benefit you kingdom much more. The most valuable gem purchase are the couple gem buildings, I hope you did not miss them. Second are those three crates at 175 gems, you have 25% chance hitting good unit, and guaranteed to get 1to1 ratio for gem to A/D points. The top 50 prize is worth 1500 gems, but not any more.

It's pretty ingenious really. Make everyone sink in cash to get to 70+ viles, then freeze the leader boards to keep the last second maneuvering "blind". It will force everyone to make their best and final offer since they have no clue where they currently rank.

I also find it all to convenient that the leader boards have not updated in over an hour.
Even at spending gems to upgrade my base it would not have gone far. I'm level 77 with my Vault maxed out at 300,000.

The amount of gems to upgrade each building is around 200 per upgrade.

I think you got it. I'm level 47 and had 22 vials as well. So you should be fine. Log in again now and you'll know.

All day I was supposedly I the top 500. At 11pm the game showed one needed 9 vials to get top500. Now magically that number has apparently jumped to the 20s? Wtf? I watched the top 500 criteria move from 8 to 9 over the course of 5 or six hours yesterday then I go to sleep and it jumps ten plus in 3-4 hours? Seems shady to me.

Not really. I leveled up 4 or 5 times during this event, got tons of loot, better hero gear and army gear, lots of boxes and vial drop/open rate was better than other events. I ended with 60+ boxes

Yes, I have the Doom Elemental. 23 vials, I dropped the idea to bein the top 50 on the second day. Doom plus the four others is a good gain :) and i have more gems to spend on upgrades and special buildings :)

About the event, I got almost no sorries but much honor and gold awards. I think i opened around 90 boxes, got 23 vials and other stuff. Some ppl were complaining about many empty trials. Funny how random works some time.

I'd be willing to say no free player got in the top 500 unless they were crazy lucky with their vials. Even if you opened up 24/day you'd have to have been very lucky to hit 20 vials using the middle option only.

I'm not surprised at all. With the top 500 range inching closer to 20 I figured there'd be enough in that grouping willing to spend a few gems just to get to 20 if not help ensure a top 500 finish. I would've been shocked if the top 500 line was below 20 in the end.

I'd love to know the profit from this type of event compared to the normal 10 vial in 7 days type of event. I'd be willing to be this event with the leader board was way more profitable for Funzio/Gree. =/

This tactic is usually used in competitive bidding situations where the seller does not expect to see the buyer again, and to achieve the highest price possible. Again bad expectations management as this was a surprise tactic at the end.

You certainly don't see Sotheby's using this method becos they value their clientele.

I dont think it is developer pulling a "surprise tactic" in the end. It would be their best interest to get everyone spending as much gems as possible. Since theres no other report of this, I'm guessing it's either he just plain didn't check the event until it was over(most likely), or he deleted his app by accident and lost the event data.

I got some remarks/questions about this (fun) event:

1. It must be lucrative for Funzio if you see the number of vials needed on the leaderboards and what ppl have invested to get in the top 500. One time development and recurring cash revenue. Let's take a quite random number of 200$ invested (average) by ppl to get in top 500 (including the ones that probably invested way more to get in the top 50), then we get:

200 * 500 = 100.000 $ (For the ones that are luckely and made it)

Let's take that another 1000 players invested 100 $ (average) and weren't that lucky:

1000 * 100 = 100.000 $ (For the unlucky ones)

--> 100.000 + 100.000 = 200.000 $ revenue.

Cashing! Development of this costs maybe 20.000 $ of this feature (in the end it reusing the event code and adding a leaderboard).

Even if i overestimate the revenue, these kind of games are mindboggling cash cows.

2. I'm maybe naughty, but i didn't see anybody 'challenging' the leaderboard list as being a real true reflecting list. It's not because we see names, that it are real players.

I used 40 (60? don't remember exactly, but not more) gems on day 1 in the first 2 hours. Otherwise, all the middle option. Do I really think 60 - 80 gems made a difference? No. I got lucky! And ended in top 500 with 22.

I would say yes that the gems helped.

As a free player i made it to 18 vials and beleive that had i taken the option of gems I would have been able to get the last 2 vials to make it to top 500.
