$100 on Teller Machine Event, no #10. Feedback/thoughts?

Fellow Crime City Addicts:

I spent $100 on this event so far and every part of me wants to put in just another $20 to get #10 (no guarantees of course). However, I put a limit of $100 on this one with my wife. I can't spend more or she'll delete my app, not because we can't afford it but because she thinks it's turning me into a compulsive gambler, which she can't stand. I agree with her concerns now as I'm having a very difficult time not going over the $100 limit. So, I'm going to hold strong. It's onto cash only now.

It's truly a shame you can spend $100, open up 75 teller machines with gold(1405 gold), buy stamina refills, buy resets and still not get #10.

Your thoughts/feedback on gold/cash and events like this?

I'm in the same boat as you. Opened 8 the first night, hit #9 the next day and have been going back and forth with cash and gold options. Getting kind of discouraged, but I almost feel committed to getting this one because I've already spent gold on it.

funzio has a mind reading beam imbedded into its games. so it knew you were only goin to spend 100$ and made sure you didn't get the tenth so you can spend more. before you buy gold next time cover your head in aluminum foil and don't look directly at the screen, and raise one leg, that way the beam wont get into you head

Your problem is your using resets, just use the 15 gold per hour for 100% open, only use resets the last hour or two of the event.c

I just can't bring myself to do stamina and energy refills with gold. I've reached my limit with gold opens though, in the past I waited until I reached #9 to start opening with gold but this time I started early and went a bit crazy with a bunch of shivs to show for it. So now I'm back to cash opens. I've come to terms with this event being a wash.

I hear ya, BOS! It took me 25 opens from 8 to 9 and I used 5 resets that I think helped me to get it. So that's 450 gold (30x15). After 9, it even got more difficult as I got up to 39 opens with 1 reset (600 more gold) with my wife opening all night cause she couldn't sleep. That's 1050 gold since #8 without a #10! Crazy?!?

I almost feel like Crime City is turning me into a compulsive gambler. That's why I'm switching to cash, even if I don't win the item.

What's crazy, is I didn't really want the item this bad to begin with. I would never had thought I would spend $100 to buy gold to get an item that gives me 50% more cash from robberies when I would never spend gold on cash. LOL! I'm crazy...or a Crime City Addict?

Your problem is your using resets, just use the 15 gold per hour for 100% open, only use resets the last hour or two of the event.c

+ 1 above and why are you using stam and energy refills? When you know an event is coming only use 588 energy at a time and hit Ma Sheng or Kane da Silva once (when you sleep hit the boss 2 times). Once the event starts make sure you have a full energy bar to hit either one of those bosses and you usually get 75% box drop rate. Try and rob / attack only people who you think might have been active since the event started so you can hopefully get a few boxes from them.

In day 1 use cash to open the boxes at least until you get 5 (possibly 7). After that you can use gold but the only thing gold guarantees is that the box opens. (Personally, I would guess behind the scenes somehow gold gives a slight increase in the odds but that is just a guess). Yes it sucks that after 75 opens you haven't gotten the event item and this happens to many a person after each event. You are gambling with unseen odds and sadly this is what can happen. Live and learn...

Why do you think Conzio loves the gambles with no posted odds so much? They know people get addicted to this game, and gambling on unknowns makes them filthy stinkin' rich, that's why. They keep almost everything players want to know about stats and number close to their vests, they won't tell us the odds on events, only that it never becomes a below zero number. That's a lie, or at the very least highly misleading. That number depends on whether or not you can get the boxes to open, and if they reduce the open rate after a certain point then you won't have enough time to open the required number of boxes to play with their 0.x% drop rate.

I got stuck on 8 the last event and spent about 250 gold during it. I suppose that's why I went ahead with the $100, thinking it would do the trick. Oh well, I did get the car and I do still have a 0.x% chance of getting #10 now, so it's not all so bad, LOL!

Guys, you know you'll get it in the last couple of hours if you keep spending gold.
The problem is you've already spend over your limit. I got Crazy Runner like that. Had to spend about 1,700 gold and got it within 2 hours left. Same with RPG, just spent way much less (about 540g). Got 10th with 3 hours to go.

If you got 8. That's a different story. All bets are off.

Your experience is exactly why Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency started investigating Funzio's parent company Gree last month. There is considerable doubt in Japan whether events like these are actually legal. When the investigation was announced, Gree's stock plunged almost 25%. Not coincidentally, just the week before this investigation was made public, Gree announced its plans to acquire Funzio. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm guessing that the US doesn't have laws expressly prohibiting these kinds of events.

And I was really happy when I got the final prize. $20 is nothing when u spent $100 before.

It may be the way you are approaching the event which is why you are stuck on 9.

I think there is a combination to open up the 10th. ie rob get a debit card, if it doesnt open try a pvp, then maybe a double hit on the maps. I havent discovered what it is, but my feeling is there some method to open up the 10th. I have 4 of the event items. Though Funzio may change this combination with each event, there was method which I used to get the Midas Gun which I got. I tried it with the others but failed so it may change.

I know someone who spent a lot of gold but didnt get the 10th item, they just did pvp and done the map's (ma sheng).

I think you have to include rob and jobs in the combination. (Though I could be wrong).I know there are players who seem to get the 10th item all the time, maybe they may wish to enlighten us a little.

I've found that if your doing missions and you get a teller machine drop, you open it straight away, only 23 tellers opened for my 10th debit card!

The odds to get 10 seem to be 2%. This means each open you get a 1/50 chance of getting the tenth item. This means ON AVERAGE you will need 50 opens to get the item.

But, there is no memory, it's not like pulling cards out of a deck that as you pull more and more out, the chances get better. This is like trying to pull out the ace of spades, if you don't get it, the card goes back in and the deck is shuffled.

The thing that will really make you sad, is that whether you have opened 1 item, or 10000, the odds are still 2%. Which means that even if you have opened 36 boxes, the chances of you getting the item in those next 36 boxes is still only a bit under 50%. If you don't get it after those 36, if you open another 36 boxes the chances are still 50%. The thing is that youd have to be pretty unlucky to flip ten heads in a row, and so if you treated 72 and 104 boxes as a group, the overall chances of going the drop is increased. But at any point, if you don't have the item, the next 36 boxes have the same chance as a toss of a coin.

I hear that. I keep thinking what I could have gotten from crates to up my poor attack rate at just 39.5k without explosives at level 187. I probably could have increased it by close to 2k and that would've definitely helped.

I think I'm following you. So, I just literally flipped a quarter 10 times and got 7 heads and 3 tails. So if heads are my fails and tails are my opens, then not only do I have to get opens, but then I still have to beat the open reward odds? Is this how it gets to 2% or is 2% for gold?

So, you got the 10th after being $100 in by spending $20 more and you're really happy? Would you have spent another $20 if you were still on 9 after that last $20? Fellow Crime City Addicts:

I spent $100 on this event so far and every part of me wants to put in just another $20 to get #10 (no guarantees of course). However, I put a limit of $100 on this one with my wife. I can't spend more or she'll delete my app, not because we can't afford it but because she thinks it's turning me into a compulsive gambler, which she can't stand. I agree with her concerns now as I'm having a very difficult time not going over the $100 limit. So, I'm going to hold strong. It's onto cash only now.

It's truly a shame you can spend $100, open up 75 teller machines with gold(1405 gold), buy stamina refills, buy resets and still not get #10.

Your thoughts/feedback on gold/cash and events like this?

Stuck at 8 since day two, Eyelusion, and all I want this event is to get 9. Not a single box has opened for me today, and the last 5 last night were sealed shut too. I've got 61 bags of garbage littering my hood now. 1 bag for each fail this event. I'm sure I will hit 72 again, as three days worth of being told fcuk you with these events has become quite common for me.

It's not illegal, or at least if it is, it is down to an interpretation of existing laws that aren't explicitly covering this type of thing. The issue with this type of thing is that as the percentages and chances are hidden and not published. This creates a false expectation of likelihood, in that players assume that prize is easier to get than it is, and are drawn into spending more money incrementally.

Just don't stop now. The chances you get it during last hours are pretty decent (not mathematicaly though :) ).
Just dont use resets over and over.. That'll kill ya :) Throw in a couple to get more chances.

I've heard more Players winning with cash on the last day than gold. The only one I heard late in the day on gd had to do 14 gold resets along with it (14x15x15=420 gold).

There must be more gold winners in the last few hours?

My feedback is this: I hope you learned your lesson. I learned mine in the last event... if you had spent 1000 on gold I wouldn't have been surprised to see you not get it.

Funzio will never get another dime from me on any of these events. I am still playing in overtime and will spend in game cash but any gold I purchase is going towards crates. I completely got suckered in the last one and assumed that the last 2 would be as easy as the first 8.

Lesson learned.
