Using Crystals to Open Rune Boxes...

Just a quick note for the other newbies out there like myself (playing a couple weeks - lvl 45). I mistakenly thought opening the Runes with a crystal ensured 100% chance of getting a gem so I did something I usually don't do and bought some crystals. Much to my dismay I ended up with an Air Wizard the first time and several other low level units during corresponding opens.

So I essentially spent $50 on something I could have bought with in-game gold. Not complaining, just wanted to let other newbies know to spend those precious gems on more certain rewards.

I do call BS on the success rate of those gems though. I've not gotten a single gem in the past 27 tries. I hear others have gotten beyond 8 gems but I call BS. No way. Still love the game though, just hoped to get some kick arse stuff. =)

It took me somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70 attempts between my 8th and 9th. I was about to lose all hope when it happened. Don't give up. It can happen.

Is that even possible? No way you can do it without spending a crap ton of crystals to reset the timer. Realistically without spending crystals someone could open 18-20 a day if they were religiously watching the timer and only slept 4 hours/day. At that rate you could maybe do 60-70.. maybe. ;-)

6 days of the event and doing only 15 a day opens 90 chests. Considering I got my first eight gems in two days, and I was opening about 16 a day, and it took 4 days to get #9, it can happen. :)

And I made the gem purchase mistake too. But only $10. Then I bought a chest.

I've averaged about 20 a day I think. I got 8 red gems in my first 15 or so attempts and first 9 successful attempts. There was a stretch where I was setting an alarm to wake me up every hour for 2 nights. I didn't miss an attempt for like 56 hours straight before I couldn't take it anymore and had to get some sleep.

I got first 9 with no trouble at all. I got them all in first 2 days but the 10th one is impossible. I went through like 50+ tries and still nothing :s
