I am sitting at 8 artifacts collected right now without spending any gold and the Eviscerator seems so close! I have 4 coffers left and I am contemplating spending 60 gold to open them up (no timer resets). Is this a good plan or a waste of money at this point? Does opening a coffer with gold increase the chance of getting an artifact as opposed to some other Item?

My last 2 artifacts I got by opening 3 coffers with gold.

Waste of money. You'll need 20 opens at least to have a chance. Unless you are über lucky

There's still a chance...

The only thing gold guarantees is that the coffer will open. There have been many that have spent vaults of gold with no end prize...but general opinion is if you can afford it and realize it does not guarantee an artifact, go for it

I haven't been über lucky up till now. Probably 75 cash opens.

How close are you with religious figures? :P

.:|The Following Assumes a Perfect Theoretical World|:.

I figure that by the time you have 8 items that the odds of getting an artifact are so low that spending the gold to beat the theoretical opening rate of .5 is just worthless in my opinion. Assuming that a medium option is a medium option. We can't really confirm anything since everything is shrouded in mystery. Knowing the real odds could possibly hurt sales of gold, which leads me to believe that's why there are no statistics or algorithms released.

For me and it is a fact the 10th artifact came from a 498 rat.
Rat have the best cheese guys and girls.

These Rats are also forum lurkers so know that the best places for boxes are high xp bosses, take them boxes.

I feel like coffers are just a currency. I don't feel like each coffer has a set reward if it is opened. Not only would that cost more data but it's a logistical nightmare to store addresses for each single coffer and access it.

I feel like ifOpen() returns true in the data then it randomly generates a reward based off a randomly generated variable. If the random result resides within a certain range, it yields an artifact which is disproportional to the other rewards. Lets say each reward has a range of 3 but the coffers are only a spread of 1. This makes it more difficult as the event goes on to find the artifacts while the rates of the other items stay constant.

Again. Just speculation.

Try your luck. I had 21 gold open since I got #8... No 9th in sight.... And cowboy had 3 almost in a row :) Go figure...

Furthers the theory that randomness is random. All this proves is that randomness is very good even though random data in computers aren't really random, they are just simulated to make it seem that way.

The random is based probably using the Pi formula so there never going to be a patten.
It's pure luck.

Pseudorandom formulas can be discretely predicted based on the time they are used. It's been proven, but to the extent where you can use it as an advantage I don't believe it's a security risk.

TL;DR or you just don't understand...Agreed. Pure luck.

Just tried first gold open and ended up with an Enhanced Bike. After reading all the responses (thank you) I decided it was worth 5 bucks to up my chances slightly for an awesome weapon. Hell, it would be worth it if I just get the CQB.

Save your money, that's how they sucker you in! They get you so close and dangle the carrot in front of your face so you'll spend the real money to get the prize and you usually don't...I know this from experience...

Cash? I have 60 gold I'm willing to spend last minute to try and lock this thing up if it comes down to it.
