App just updated - and the new areas are now gone.... I can still see them in my quests, but can't do anything to access the areas.

Shut down the app entirely and restart they will come back. I just had the same issue

Well hopefully its just a fluke but I went from getting crap loot this morning to getting ZERO loot since the update this evening.

Anyone else have any observations on a before/ after basis?

Loot is pretty bad, even when questing.

Yups, lower loot drop rates. the rune boxes are more dominant than the normal loots. I have now 20 boxes, which i'd rathr trade for loots. Sigh.
