Limit On How Many Mob Members Are Used?

Don't know if this has been asked & answered, but is there a limit of mafia members you're allowed to use during a battle? I read somewhere it was either 500 or your level x5, whichever is lower.
Is this true?

completing various in-game goals...why do you want more henchmen? there is no difference between them or mob members.

actually henchmen are ghost mafia you cant see them and so you cant delete them... you equip your mafia with your items so it doesnt matter what level your mafia is or what items they have as far as fighting bonus or anything but you might want to try to have all your mafia be people who can kick your butt because if they are in your mafia they wont be kicking your butt lol
