the top 500 separates the elite crime city members from the mediocre lol. i very much doubt that i will get this item at all. but i say its fine the way it is. This is a tournament of the most determined to get the prize, not to be confused with the weekly events. let the weekly events have staggered prizes for all to achieve(most players get 7 be grateful for that almost guaranteed free stuff), i think the tournament should stay the way it is.

This event sounds neat, I'm trying although I don't expect anything since I can't afford stamina refills.

@people asking for tiered rewards.... Why? The biggest advantage will be had by spending gold on stamina refills. Next to that will be level refills, and it's easier/faster to gain levels at the lower levels. At lower levels you will have more free refills than someone at higher levels, and if you win the tournament prize at a lower level the advantage will be a lot better than something of comparable strength for your level.

If I were you lower level players I would shut it while the "gettin's good", because if you get your tiered reward it's going to suck in comparison and it won't be any easier to get.

The odds are the same for everyone and already most people won't get the prize anyways. However, if you get the prize at level 30 it will make a much bigger difference for you than it would if you got it at level 150.

8.59 million downloads as of end of March. Even if 5% are active players the odds are not good especially if you are not a gold player and can refill stamina.

Well at your level you will see a number of forum members. My crawler account at level 60 seem to have an endless supply of rivals that I don't recognize within my bracket range. At max mafia within your level you will probably see more of the same rivals.
If Funzio is giving out 500 reward items I'm going to guess that its say 1% of all players will receive this item.
That's 50,000 active players. I think its probably more like 0.1%. Only CCMark can confirm my estimate.

I agree, its rubbish that lower level and newer players will have no ability to win. A fairer system would to be allocate 50 for every 20 levels in a group (assumes 200 level limit?), meaning the top level players have to battle it out with each other while lower levels can do the same... might encourage lower level players to actually invest in gold on this one... if your not at the top its a complete waste of time and money!

So sad yet so true. Still us poor players have the events which gives us something for free so it's still good. I fear the day when us poor players get nothing at all because that's the day I'll quit. Funzio, just remember gold players needs people to play with us and get beaten us. If not for us poor folks, they wouldn't have as much fun and you wouldn't get as much money. Much of those download stats are from us which got you the game you have today. It's a delicate web that you need to weave carefully, don't break it and blame me!!! Things are always clearer in hindsight!!!

It is ironic that you would word this this way. People who dont spend money on gold are typically the ones with money though, and the gold spenders are the ones who are too dumb to spend their income on something better than pixels, and they're commonly broke. Ive seen several forum posts bragging about 'dropping $2 on the game' or 'allocating a portion of the welfare check to this game' but I have yet to see a post acknowledging successful gold free players. I pity gold users.

Your logic confuses me, please reread my post. my point is that gold players needs free players and free players needs gold players. It's a delicate balance that must be maintained. I don't believe the game will be as successful without one or another. Nothing wrong here. The announcement is only a notification, fighting rivals is still the same. There is no progress gauge or leader board in-game. If you're not on the top 500 posted by Crime City Mark in post #1 of this thread, you haven't won enough fights to qualify.

I think listing the top 750 or 1,000 would be more helpful. If folks knew they were really close to the 500 mark, they would likey buy some gold for stamina refills. Also, showing each person's "score" would be helpful too. I know if I was ranked in the 500's or 600's and not terribly far behind, I would buy some gold to get over the hump.....

No refills. I do have 60 stamina and Goodfella, leveled up twice which gave me about 100 extra stamina. It takes about 3 hours replenishing all my stamina and I also took 3 hours sleep...Hopefully could make it without gold.

:) That amount of stamina worth the skill points investment if I could get the shotgun, but so what. Funzio will be releasing more and more powerful weapons to change the game and no one knows where the end is.

This PvP tournament can be won with effort and determination though, which is really friggin' cool. IMO, tournaments are the best new content to come along in quite some time.

No gold, 125 on the list. I was at 102 yesterday, but people are obviously freaking out and buying gold so I just want to finish in the top 150-200. Same prize no matter what, so position is just bragging rights. I think top 500 is cool at any number (except 499).

I like that there is only a small luck factor with the PvP tournament. The difference from box events is that the luck is affected by the players and not some random number generator. Your luck depends instead on the amount of people that do spend gold for refills (unknown random factor) combined with the amount of effort you are willing and able to invest.

At least if you put the effort and don't win you know you tried and the people who did win either tried harder or spent more gold. I'd rather miss out on a prize that way than because I couldn't be on every hour or because I have crap luck.

thats a good amount on R coins so it wont make u weak leveling up now, especially if u get the +100 atk skills. i find they do something, with bankbuster i have 233.

Me 2, 2 days ago i wasnt fighting all day long, and i dropped 30 spots.

After that, i was fighting all day long and still dropped 6 spots.

There are maybe 25 or 30 people who have any chance of overtaking you at this point. Even if they lay out the gold, there probably aren't enough people in the game, being attacked 10x every 2 hours for 480 people to catch you on the list. You're bordering on obsession.
