Question: Has anyone seen oddities when purchasing units raising one score and lowering the other?
I was at 11801/12145... purchased a test rifleman (6/14).... my A/D went to 11798/12151.
Basically i got the benefit of the added defense but my attack score went down.

Did you check to make sure you didn't lose a unit and not notice? I do that often. Never notified of unit loss. Sometimes I find that my stats will stay the same even when they should change until I add a unit or get out the game and reload back into it. Oh no! It couldn't be! ANOTHER glitch? Lol. Dot what "i" ,cross what "t".

I had the same case. At first, It didn't understand the reason, then I realize that every unit uses the best equiptment. However, the best weapon is the one whose attact point is highest regardless of depence point, and best armor is the one which has highest depence point regarless of attack point. So, When you buy a armor which has more depence score and less attact sore than the previous best armor, your overall depence score is raised, but your attact score will be lowered.

As Skoty422 says, that has been put forward regularly lately as the 'possible?' reason for this.
I've noticed the behavior also on my side.

Yes.
I checked my stats. Purchased 1 test unit (prior to buying 50 of them). Checked again.
Ive seen the same buying weapons as well.

I have not noticed this in my army. If I purchase an item ( unit, weapon, armor) and my base level is higher than the attack stat but lower than the defense stat then my attack stat does nothing but defense stat raises. I have not sen a drop unless there was a lag in connection.
I noticed my stat dropped once when I bought another unit. I checked my units where I buy the units and seen none loss. But I then checked my units in my profile and I had lost a loot unit. A berserker I think it was. But there was lag in the connection so it didn't change my stats until I purchased another unit and it had to reload the stats to compensate for the new unit. I'm not saying it wasn't a bug, I'm just saying that it could be that you lost a unit and didn't notice.
What's your base level anyway? It changes with every ally. And units and equipment are seperate and they don't affect each other.

This all happened within 30 seconds - I rarely am attacked - so it wasn't a unit loss. I'm certain of that. Ive seen this prior; this time I happened to write the numbers down because I was curious and tracking things a little better with hacking my allies in 1/2.
Total allies: 161. Grunts: 17. L58.
Anyhoo. Its annoying. The trend continued on when I purchased more riflemen.

Yea. That's crap. And annoying. I'm having issues with my hero right now. I would tell you to write a ticket but it prolly won't do any good. My hero attack is at 77. But I still can't kill a freaking desert bandit with one hit(50) ! I sent a ticket. They told me that it was too many variables that account for the actual value of the hero weapon and to which enemy is dealt what damage. Whatever! 50 hp vs 77 damage. Should be a no brainer.

By 77 max damage do yo mean your hero strength + weapon attack + armor attack = 77?
If so keep in mind that this is you max potential attack. Most of the to time you will do damage in the range of the average of you max and minimum attack (weapon attack + armor attack). Very rarely do you do max damage to monsters.
For example:
If your hero str is 60 and your weapon and armor attack is 40; max damage is 100 and min damage is 40. When you attack you will most likely attack around the range of 60 to 80 damage +- of the average between your max and min attack. This is speaking more from experience, I don't have data to necessarily back it up entirely but it is what I have been noticing over my 1000+ attacks on monsters.

It's actually 90 if I add all attack of hero items and strength. I have hit a 92 today on a monster. I was definately surprised. But the next three hits were 48,62, and then a kill shot which I didn't notice the damage.

Some monsters have higher defenses; there is a random variable. I noticed in the higher maps with monsters with high defenses (~200) its a lot harder to get full attacks.

I agree I have noticed the same thing. Monster defense is an unknown variable but certainly affects max damage potential as the level increases.
I haven't hit with max damage in a long while on the higher level maps.

I wrote a ticket about this very subject. This is what I was told.
Hello scotty,
There is a battle formula that takes all of these different stats into account. It's not as simple as comparing player attack and defense to the monster's attack and defense.
Unfortunately, the formula for battles is not revealed to the public.
