View Full Version : Kingdom Age or Ghetto Age?

Why is it that (nearly) every base I visit (in my allies list - or to raid/attack) looks like a ghetto? And by ghetto I mean, there's no thought put into the locations of the buildings... it's just a random hodge-podge of buildings in an area JUST large enough to accommodate...
I know that some people are gonna come back with "it doesn't matter just as long as you have the silos covered" or "I'm trying to maximize my space and not spend any extra on land if I don't have to" or some bs like that...
What I'm saying is that you people need to take pride in your Kingdoms... set them up the way you would if you actually HAD a Kingdom of your own... or at the very least you really need to invest in a Kingdom planner, cuz your Kingdoms look like C.R.@.P...

If you lvl at a decent pace, which I assume you don't, and have a sufficient income to afford the buildings available to you then you can't do anything but to cram buildings next to eachother for the first few weeks. It takes 48 hours to acquire a plot of land and 8-24 hours to erect a building.
I have just finally begun to organize my base otherwise after a month of playing.

Well, don't know why everyone else so messed up, but I guess I could be an exception. :)

I wish I played on an iPad so I could show more of my base, it would take 4 or 5 screen shots to show all of mine.

The trick for me to always have enough land is properly set the priority for things.
upgrading something > vault > land expansion in square and close to water>
SELL barracks> Don't BUILD colosseum >
build every single money building in order > build magic and machine unit building > defense buildings > beast unit buildings.
In that case, you will never feel short of space.
Edit: some guy just deleted his post, I wrote this as a reply to him....wth

why wouldnt you invest in Colosseum?

As Ghost raised also the question... why not investing in a coloseum.
I find it worth till level 5 or 6 to invest in it to allow you to build up the kingdom on other levels.

Should I sell my Barracks?

Should I sell my Barracks?
Depends... if you're not yet ready to sell them because you still are buying units from it that increase your attack or defense, then it would be stupid to sell them.
If you still are doing missions on lower lever maps that require those units, then you might get stuck as you don't have the barracks anymore and can't execute the mission...
So for me, i wouldn't sell them unless i really got land space issues and above two points are not valid anymore.

I went from poison spiders to Zeppelins because I didn't like that illusionist had a very high casualty rate.

All I know is that having a great layout CAN be done... My last land purchase was for 40k... It'll let me get my 2nd shipyard built. I'm a lvl 26, but I'm not spending $$$ on a merchant caravan (7.5k for $100/HR doesn't seem like a good investment), or most of the upgrade buildings (they'd take up space and I wouldn't spend the time or $ to upgrade them right now).
Even with all of my buildings, nothing looks or feels crowded... If u want to take a look, add me and then come back to this thread and give your opinion on my kingdom.

Yeah, the last 3-4 parcels were ~ 30k, 31k, 33k & 40k... Pretty big jump... I'm just glad I was banking $$$ for the last 24-36 hrs (had 65k in my vault before the 40k purchase - WELL above my vault limit). Not even close to being prepared to buy higher end $$$ buildings yet... gonna focus on upgrading my current ones & my vault (which'll take me another 1-2 weeks).

Yeah bud I didn't think the blocks would jump up so much, that's why I slowed down land expansion cause my upgrades were becoming massive...I needed every $ even with my output so unless the building was critical, I slowed down the land expansion.
P.s. have you been leveling up since i last dropped by? Ive seen quite a few former turtles going up the levels at the moment

I can't help but level up. I'm too addicted to playing to camp. If I get smoked later then so be it. And I like the colosseum. I think it has good units for the price. My goal right now is to get 100 attack/defense points per ally. Then I will build another army that's better. I'm speeding at level 44 with 50 allies. About to level up again today. Just got to lvl 44 yesterday! Oh well. Enjoying every minute of it!

Yeah, I've jumped up about 10-15 levels in the last 2 weeks... using the Hero strategy discussed in an earlier post... I'm strong enough to win 98% of my battles (whether I'm awake or asleep) and I can't camp forever... just trying to keep my att/def #s up... it's working so far...

That's my point, you have a lot of land because you have been camping but you have neglected to build certain buildings and don't have access to 15+ buildings because of your low lvl. To neglect advancing in the game to make your base asthetically pleasing is stupid imo. It can wait untill later in the game when you have most of your buildings built and can expand your base out of will not necessity.

So I go 12-15 levels in 30 days, then 11-12 levels in 14 days... which of those periods would you classify as "camping"? Just because I leveled slower than you might have, I don't think either period can be considered "camping".
I haven't built the merchant caravan, 2 defense towers (which are in the process of being built), one shipyard (cuz im waiting for the land to complete), and a couple of the boost buildings (which, if you're investing in them before your $/HR is near 5k/HR, then that's idiotic - and probably why you don't have enough land to build your kingdom properly).
Ohh, another set of fun facts - I've won 97% of my battles, 99% of my raids, and my att/def are more than 2x my level (even though I only have 84 of the 130 allies i'd be allowed to leverage). PLUS, my vault is continually growing - it hasn't ever gone more than 30 min (total) since I started playing without being in upgrade status.
I usually have extra $ in my vault and that extra $ is invested in land (over weapons). So from where I stand, land is a better investment than letting extra $ sit in my vault day after day... AND if I'm gonna buy land, then I should do it in a way that makes my kingdom aesthetically pleasing...

I'm not arguing having constant land expansion, I've had constant vault upgrades, constant land expansion, constant building upgrades AND constant construction. Trust me my income is not a problem, you have not made 10% of what I have. I would consider 12-15 lvls in 30 days SEVERE camping when those lvls are the first 12-15 lvls of the game that most people get in 2 days? My point is that the constant construction requires wall to wall buildings because of the slow rate of land expansion. I still need 4 more plots of land to make my basea how I want it to look and the game has not been out long enough to achieve that.
As for your fun facts - consider who you are competing against? Lvl 25's? I have losses purely from my decision in ally count. I have 50 allies and get attacked by people with 150+. If I maxed allies no one on my rivals list could touch me.
Enjoy your pretty base, I'll enjoy winning.

Anyone who goes 12-15 levels in 1-2 days much less 1-2 weeks is setting themselves up for slaughter when they get to the upper levels... anyone who advocates that is looking for lambs to slaughter...
I win at every level - and I'll win when I get to yours - soon enough...
Now, back to my regal ("pretty") kingdom...

I've never slowed my lvling and I've stepped on everyone in my path. And you will never be my lvl, how do you expect to catch up?
This is my idea of a good looking base:

Only in fairytales my father & mother read to me when I was a boy... They said that manors were owned by evil little trolls from the north - and to watch out for anyone who owned one.
I try to keep my Kingdom nice and welcoming-looking to potential guests by not having any of those intimidating-looking defensive buildings (except one, which is partially hidden and only obvious if you look carefully)...

I don't get why people fear leveling up fast. I'm level 53 and I have no problem so far when it comes to rival battles. I win some, lose less. Either way, this game is all about being active. If I don't gather my money from Silos, not improve my Vault, then I would be playing the game wrong. I constantly attack monsters to get better weapons and armors, leaving allies when I feel the need to add them.
Quest clearing is the best thing. Especially those quests that make you fight rare monsters. I fight other monsters just to let the rare ones appear, making me get lots of better weapons and armors for my army.
It's all about looking unattractive towards stronger players. I don't waste my time attacking weaklings with no gold, few allies and already sacked silos. A waste of time and energy.

Some guys camp a little to build their stats before moving onto higher levels - they are leveling slowly but are in fact very active too. You don't realize they are actually way ahead of you until they decide to level past you.
Big Boss

I'm not saying that those that are weaker than me aren't active, I have seen on there profiles how good they could be if they decide to add allies.
This game is all about how you want to play. I have seen quality type users that have hardly any allies, but a great Kingdom with great hold per hour, unit growth and lots of weapons and armors that can further expand there attack and defence if they so decide to add allies.
So in essence there is no all safe proof way to play the game. It's more or less just protecting your gold, obtaining better weapons and armor and above all else, BEING ACTIVE!

I've noticed that most kingdoms aren't exactly... aesthetically pleasing. I try to expand my land as much as possible and add buildings sparingly so that my kingdom looks nice and spread out. I used lots of trees and a few other decorations to make my kingdom "prettier," but due to the fact that only I get to see these additions kind of defeats the purpose of beautification. I want others to be able to see how I have planned my kingdom and decorated it, but instead it just looks like any other kingdom with spaced out buildings. I think that more players will decide to improve the 'look' of their kingdoms once decorations can be seen by everyone and not just the owner of the kingdom. Also, after a month or so when people have had more time to expand the borders of their kingdoms then more emphasis will be put on the way it is laid out. Most everyone is just trying to build everything ASAP and once the sawdust settles we will get to see some great kingdoms emerge.

Yeah, that's becoming an issue for me as well. I just spent 40k on a new plot of land.

if they gave us more space to fit the buildings in maybe we would organize better.......
I organise my buildings according to output times, it makes it easier for me to check timers if they're grouped.

Hopefully that player doesn't get angry, invests money and pays you a visit :).
I'm expanding land constantly, but am now getting on a stage where i have allmost all my buildings and don't seem to need extra land.

I want them to spend extra $$$ to try and beat me... I'd take that as a compliment...
And, as Free can attest, I don't need the extra land for buildings... I add land because it makes my kingdom kick@$$... expanding toward the northern mountain range so I can build a special area for my magic buildings. Then it'll be on to build a special area for the beasts/barracks/weapons buildings.

Yup. Pork's kingdom is so much bigger than when I last visited there, that if you were a raider it'll take you ages to find everything! Haha!
