Explain defense buildings

How do they work exactly? Do they add defense to your army? If they add defense to whatever building they defend then how does that work? If I have a pit +16 and I place it around 2 buildings is there defense upgraded by 16 each or is the total defense split up between buildings giving them an upgraded defense of 8 each. Thanks for the help.

A defense building will only help then someone is raiding you if the building being raided are within the defense buildings range.
All defense buildings are helping you then someone are attacking you.

A defense building will always help with all its stats when it is in use.

A building being raided will be helped from all the defense buildings it is in ranges of. (Yes a defense building can help another defense building in its range if it get raided)
In other words if you have one building that you really like to protect against raids then you can just surround it with defense buildings.

So in short:
- If you get raided: Defense is increased with the values of the surrounding defense buildings which have the attacked building in its range. The increase is the sum of the defense values of the defense buildings.

- If you get attacked: All defense values of all defense building are added up and added to your general defense score. This extra defense amount is not shown on your profile where you're defense score is shown. It's added 'in the back' when you get attacked.
