I'm sick of the freaking spam on here. Through the years I've been a part of at least 10 forums and I've never seen as much spam as I see here. The reason why is that we don't have any mods.

Why not let mav, AO, wp, bronson, dreno, or whoever become mods so we can delete these spam posts and threads? and obv ban the posters.

Good posters don't necessarily make good mods. I've seen good posters turn from loved to hated, mod action can take a toll on them...

If it was limited to spam control, tbats cool. I think we need a few simple tricks though that I outlined in a previous thread. Namely, a waiting period and a probation on posting images and links.

if the biggest complaint is spam, mods do fine getting rid of it if you will only report it... see that little icon in the bottom left of each post with the ! inside the triangle... just click that on any spam you see and they'll delete it rather quickly most of the time...

...i'm not an expert but i don't think they can plant a trojan on you w/a clickable link. so if you did hit it by accident, they can give you a cookie or get basic info etc. but you would have to download something more significant, right??? ...av protection, updates against exploits, system maintenance, custom system settings are a must for regular/intermediate net users anyway, so you should already be covered there, right?

if i clicked it by accident and had a concern they had my ip... i'd delete cookies, reboot and refresh my ip connection so they couldn't port scan me for system holes...

these spam here are almost always entry level post for curious gullibles... if you start following their trap too far, then your are at serious risk, but not at a simple accidental click, right??? at least that's my minor understanding.

He thinks that probably less than 1% of most people's post on average is an actual game contribution and 10% of the overall forum is On Topic.
