Attacking unit buildings?

What is the point? Of attacking and destroying a unit building? They are free to repair so what do they do to the rival? Anything?

The attacker get some Xp and Honor that is all.

There are also several quests that pop up and tell you to attack specific targets such as barracks or magic academies. That's the only reason I've ever attacked them.

What is the point?

Sometimes they just don't like that you attacked and they'll level a large number of your buildings to mess with you. If they have superior strength, they can also cause you unit damage during these battles if they attack enough.

There's really no point in attacking unit, defense, & boost buildings.
