Why do these people attack / invade me?

I'm level 18 at the moment. My attack is 2418 and defense is 3124.

Day after day I have people attacking me and failing. When I view their profile, their attack and defense powers aren't even close. For example, here are the last five people to attack me in the past 24 hours.

Win / Loss :: Atk / Def

150/133 :: 789 / 860
108/223 :: 1083 / 1326
290/260 :: 908 / 958
221/65 :: 1272 / 1618
209/188 :: 1548 / 1814

Even the most powerful person in that set has less than 50% of my defense in attack power.

Why are they attacking me if its basically a guaranteed loss? Is there some other advantage / reward to attacking and losing that I'm missing?

About 80% of my losses were because of this lol. When i first started playing i just attacked everyone on my rivals list, didn't know you could check stats. Sure theres a lot of that still.

In one of the other Funzio games, I got to a point where my Attack was better than *most* people's Defense, so at that point I started blind attacking. It was a lot faster than going into each village and checking the other player's stats. And if I lost a few fights, so what? My gold was vaulted. When I lost to someone with stats like yours I'd just move on. (This was probably in CC, where you didn't lose units in fights, so there was truly no risk, other than the wasted Stamina.)

So...there's some chance it's like that. But more likely what Futon said -- they don't even know how to check stats.

And (no offense) the newbies who do know how to check stats saw their attack was 1/10/100/1000 points higher than the other but still lost they throw a fit without really knowing how the mechanics work. Yes it is possible to lose to someone which lower defense than your attack. How? Defense skill points and just chance.

Also if you got a lot of gold, they will have a go even though they know they will probably lose

My first biggest haul on CC was like that, the first time I got 300K from attacking someone (not robbing) I used 87 stamina. I failed 77 of the 87 times.

Be happy, I've made 8890 gold so far on defense, thats more than I got on attacks.. Its a good boost
