Is it important to spend skill points on energy in this game? I have been loading them in to stam because I like attacking, but will this kill me as time goes on? Where should I put skill points if I want to have good stats?

if you want it well-rounded yes. it is used for farming.

Later games such as GURPS introduced a points-based system of purchasing attributes and skills as a means of improving game balance and flexibility.

If you like doing missions, stick some into energy. If you like fighting and robbing then stamina is your key.
Attack and Defense are one of the mysteries of the universe still waiting to be unlocked.

You will need a certain amount of energy to farm effectively but fighting and robbing is the way to go!
